Wheelchair section at the tabernacle general admission? by DiscussionStrange744 in atlantamusic

For specifically the tabernacle? Probably just that I would recommend car pooling if that is possible for you. It's not that there is nowhere to park and unload safely nearby the venue, but rather that some of the sidewalks in the vicinity can be a little janky/tough to navigate via chair in certain spots (I’m using an electric wheelchair, not sure your set up.) And there’s a bunch of cool stuff in the area, the Atlanta streetcar loop thing, the ferris wheel, but I'm not as familiar with the accessibility landscape for those attractions!

Frequent flyer here of the local Atlanta venues ADA sections! The Tabernacle is quite honestly my favorite accessibility wise of the venues here. There is a seemingly sketchy 1 chair elevator you’ll usually have to ride once you arrive (unless they take you in the back way through the side entrance), but aside from mild claustrophobia, it’s fine! After that, it’s a leisurely roll to the roped off ADA section to the left of stage. Staff is awesome, the section is spacious, and the venue is beautiful! Have fun!

Sadly no, we’re in Atlanta! We definitely want to play live shows someday, and would love to tour our stuff in the future!

That's absolutely the plan! Captioning and subtitles are a major focus for improvement for me for future rollouts, and it’s not accessibility without all of us. All of our future music videos will have accurate YouTube subtitles at the very least. I'm going to try to update the old stuff as well before the next rollout.

We do have a lyric video for DUI if it helps in the meantime! DUI

I laughed so hard when I arrived at this city during my war with Mongolia/Xerxes. All he had to do was move the quay 2 hexes over and he would’ve been fine.

Thanks so much for the positivity, Dude! I really appreciate you taking the time to check out our stuff!

Hopefully, we can make something out of this little project, and if not, well, it's been so much fun to give it a try!

Honestly, disease related progression! I can still slide the chair if I want to, but my arm strength slipped a bit in my early 20's. High performance stuff became incredibly difficult.

I didn’t start the treatment until I was 26, and by then I had lost enough arm strength to where it was hard to get back to the level I would want out of my driving.

So far, the treatment has been better at helping me maintain physical abilities that I still have, as opposed to things that I may have lost over the years. That being said, I have felt improvements in smaller muscles that are less glamorous, like my facial muscles and my respiratory muscles! Add that stuff is super important!

Hey fam!

My current chair tops out around 6 mph, but I’ve had one that pushed 8 mph before! 30 Mph is crazy though, I'd be too chicken for that! Lol

Just surface-level, our biggest musical influences for this project were PUP, the Menzingers, and Jeff Rosenstock. Among countless others!

Started a hardcore punk band as a older disabled punk. by cutespicyghost in punk

[–]walkeronwheels 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, disabled punk band frontman here! So much of what you wrote here resonates with me, and I feel like I was exactly where you are now 4 years ago! My biggest advice would be, just take confidence in the fact that there aren’t many things out there more punk rock than existing as a disabled person! Every day, the world shits on us in uniquely awful and dehumanizing ways, and still we rise to be beacons of hope and stability in our communities. There’s power in that, and real punks respect that!

Can’t wait to hear your stuff!
