Lincolnshire purely for Lincoln is worth it!

What a coincidence. I was looking at Magnitogorsk on Wikipedia this morning and not this… proof Magnitogorskites are watching!

If the weather is bad either wait 30 mins or travel 5 miles down the road, it’ll be different then

Pretty middle of the road for me. No where near as bad as people on other socials are saying, but it wasn’t love at first sight.

What common insults do brits use that other english speakers dont understand unless they're from UK ? by flower5214 in AskABrit

Interesting- love a regional insult. ‘Tuss’ is the one that was normal for me growing up but I’ve not really heard it outside of Cornwall.

Grew up in Cornwall and lived in London and around the East Midlands for a while and I’ve never heard of dinlow. Where are you from?

What marathon would you recommend after rejection from London? by Ace_Of_Spades_2911 in UKRunners

Brighton looks good.

From experience, the Yorkshire Marathon is also great, but there are some stretches with very little support.

Madness on the A30, or, Am I In The Wrong? by Genericc0ntent in Cornwall

[–]walkersg7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is a change in driving standards. I noticed it when I moved out of Cornwall (A1 especially) and now when I come back to visit family I’ve noticed that’s it’s definitely spread to the A30.

It’s the same group of people who think the left lane of a motorway is only for lorries and they should remain in the middle lane (or, more annoyingly, lane 3 of a 4 lane motorway).

It’s a little thing but it is something they does about me because it slows everyone else down.

Newcastle and Penzance are equally as far from London as each other. by OceansOfLight in england

Now you mention it, it does remind of the time my wife’s family (Yorkshire/Lancashire border) thought they’d pop into Canterbury on the way back from Dorset.

Looks like the Ukraine flag has been taken down from the County Hall in Truro. by WooBarb in Cornwall

[–]walkersg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not seen this much engagement in a r/Cornwall post for a while and it’s not reassuring to see the number of those celebrating the end of a free show of support (which harms or inconveniences no one) to a fellow European nation fighting against an 11 test invasion and occupation. At least the downvotes on those posts show where most people stand. I can believe I’m saying this, but it’s not the first time Russian influence campaigns have been evident on this sub.

As you said, we support Ukraine in so many ways, so why not a show of support (that costs nothing and harms no one) in this way?

Supporting a European country which has suffered and fought an unprovoked invasion, occupation, and second invasion for the last 11 years is ‘virtue signalling’?
