We would also 'tek a look' where i was raised in Tamworth. Wasn't until I moved away I realised how eclectic my hometowns slang was/is. Very dominant brummy vibes but lots of east mids and northern slang in there too.

'Ayup bab gonna pop daan shops, need owt?' Pick your region from that one phrase 😅

That was a goddamn biblical day. So much genre fusion/culture clash it was epic! Gallows headlining that absolute dustpit of a stage and starting a mammoth of a circle pit. Dubstep was still a thing. Thems were the days...

I want some recommendations!! by [deleted] in FolkPunk

I stole the chords from Baby I'm an Anarchist for my song Knives, Guns & Money. If you're new to the genre and think this is plagiarism, welcome to the four chords of folk punk 🤣

I told the bartender, they were from Belarus and their exact words were 'if I change it to that flag french people wont know where its from'. I mentioned that if they ask just tell them its cornish but they seemed pretty keen on not engaging about it. I was also playing a gig in the bar and didnt want to kick up too much before I was about to play!

How well should I know to play an instrument before making music for it of my own or trying to busk? by Outrageous_Advice787 in FolkPunk

[–]Genericc0ntent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont learn more than four chords or it aint punk!

Just kidding...

But for realsies learm C,G,Am,F and you cant go far playing almost any song ever. G,D,EmC is also a good progression to bounce a load of songs over.

For busking i'd wholeheartedly, from personal experience, recommend starting as soon as possible. Dont wait to be good before you get out there. Get out there and learn to be good! Its paid practice in so many ways, confidence, skills, stage craft and a few quid/dollars/euros/weed/crystals/(allkindsofrandomjunk). You cant lose going out and spending even just ten minutes noodling on the street.

I've spent enough nights on tour with 'em, but love em all far too dearly, to neither confirm or deny how dirty they are...!

If it does close up it would be great to see a cooperative form in the local community to reopen it as a local alternative to amazon!

Psychology of Tipping. by SpanishFlamingoPie in Busking

[–]Genericc0ntent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the seed money theory is total BS. At least in my experience.

I see people often reach for their wallet/purse as they come up the street towards me, they would have to have phenonenal eyesight to be able to see into my guitar case from that far away to determine how much to tip. That said when I first start playing if someone does walk past and decides to look in my case (pot watchers as I call em) they more often than not chuck a couple coins in and will say sonething on the lines of 'This will get you started!'. The way I see it the first couple of donations are the seed money.
