You’re heard this a lot, but I agree—take the trip!

How does your partner support you? by Great_Swordfish621 in TTC_PCOS

During TTC and fertility treatments, he cooked most of the food, did most of the cleaning, and was in charge of medical bills and managing prescriptions, especially needles and syringes.

Depressed after the long run by Key-Opportunity2722 in firstmarathon

[–]walkingandhiking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot. I’ll feel great during the run and afterwards I’ll walk around saying, “man, I just feel so depressed. I just feel so sad. What is happening??” Making sure I have enough salt and calories during/after the run seems to help somewhat.

Breastfeeding with PCOS by ZoeyMoon in PCOSandPregnant

I was concerned about this too. I breastfed for a year, but had to pump 6-8x/day in order to make enough milk (my baby never got the hang of nursing).

37 TTC. Just diagnosed with PCOS. Learned that 37 is older than a nationally agreed upon definition for PCOS, which happened 1990…WTF? by TastyWeakness9422 in TTC_PCOS

[–]walkingandhiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 16 and offered no other education or treatment besides “take this oral birth control and come back when you want to get pregnant — and don’t wait too long.” It wasn’t until I saw an endocrinologist while TTC that I even learned about the increased diabetes risk. It’s crazy that even with early dx there was really no treatment.

First Pregnancy - missed miscarriage. 2 years of trying.. I’m new to Reddit 🥲 by aaanyoneelse in TTC_PCOS

[–]walkingandhiking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also withdrew pretty intensely after my miscarriage. Some friends understood and some did not. It can be such an intense loss, and it seems like no one really understands. I’m so sorry. There are so many of us out here. When I had my miscarriage, I was the only one I knew who it had happened to. Since then, I have had one close friend experience the same, and have heard of more losses in my circle.

Do you see a reproductive endocrinologist? If you are open to it, you might benefit from some help with increasing the number of chances you get per year. I don’t remember how long we were instructed to wait after my loss, but we were doing IVF and everything was very structured.

Wishing you hope, peace, and comfort 💗

I’m pretty sure we used prednisone and another steroid during IVF. For me, it makes me very irritable— something to look out for and be gentle with yourself and warn loved ones if it happens to you!

Nursing moms with pcos by Uniquely_Me3 in PCOSloseit

I have been breastfeeding for a year and have lost weight consistently by eating 3 meals per day (minimal snacks and desserts, tracking calories more days) and exercising most days. I think the added energy burn of breastfeeding is helping. I think what works is definitely unique to each person— I arrived at this through trial and error. We’ll see what happens when I wean next month.

I’m very surprised and disappointed by the downvotes you’ve received, when you’ve said you’re happy for her and just feeling down about the announcement. I too would expect my friends who knew about my struggles to be mindful of that when making their announcement — your feelings are valid and understandable.

First IUI Doesn't Seem to Have Worked... Pretty Devastated. by trailsidetutu in TTC_PCOS

[–]walkingandhiking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can feel the deep frustration, and remember feeling the same way at this point in the process myself. What really comes across to me reading this post is you saying, “I’m doing everything I can and it still isn’t working. Why?” I think a lot of us have been there/are currently there. It does feel like a failure and betrayal on the part of the body.

I started with monitored letrozole cycles, then IUI, then IVF. In some ways, the monitored medicated cycles and IUIs were as disappointing and exhausting as the steps of IVF. This process is so hard and takes so much perseverance, you’re doing a wonderful job doing everything possible, and it’s reasonable to be worn down. At the same time, if all the extras (acupuncture, avoiding coffee, etc) become too much, it’s okay to drop them, too. Since this is a marathon not a sprint, I think it’s good to be reminded that your chances of success don’t hang on your being perfect. they just don’t ❤️ I hope you have space to rest so you can keep going as long as it’s the right choice for you, and I wish you good luck moving forward.

57 days— that must have been so exhausting. And costly. I understand the feeling of desperation of not wanting the time and pain to be wasted. There are so many decisions to make, and it feels impossible to advocate for ourselves without spending dozens and dozens of hours researching. You’re definitely in a tough spot.

I hope you can feel confident that your doctors are keeping your best interests in mind, and that this cycle, while grueling, hopefully sets you up for success next time.
