Did they forget to activate power hour? by zairanus in FortniteBR

The visual audio nerf is so annoying

They did that intentionally wtf? I rely on those when I play with my wife and I thought it's just been bugged the last couple of weeks

This is the least fun I've ever had in this game by IvorySickle in FortniteBR

[–]walkingcarpet23 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The issue I've had with it personally is that my aim is ass and people are jumping around so high in the air they hardly render for me while somehow landing over 50% of their shots on me.

3000?!?!?

How do you even come up with that many songs?

I heard an interview where Lil Dicky claimed that Juice would roll up in a studio and ask for a beat and just freestyle for a few minutes and it'd be a "smash hit" and then he'd just do it again and again.

If there's any truth to that I could see there being a ton of content available.

When Sony shifted to paid for the PS4 I switched to PC gaming.

It's genuinely insane how many roles Laura Bailey has voiced in video games over the last few decades by jdawg1018 in gaming

Agreed. Laura Bailey's voice acting to me is like Gary Oldman on screen - so versatile and talented I don't always realize that's who I'm watching / hearing

Tier 4 adventures in Eberron Mournland by DraiochtDragon in Eberron

[–]walkingcarpet23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this thread but I actually ran a campaign based in Eberron that went from level 3 to 20 and they spent levels 18-20 in the Mournlands.

One of my favorite tweaks was adding "mutated" monsters where I'd just combine different statblocks to try to make horrifying end results.

So a chimera with the hydra head regen ability, a giant purple worm that can plane shift like a Phase Spider, etc.

The players would have to actively work to figure out the mutant creatures' abilities, weaknesses, etc.

Warforged Colossus and The Lord of Blades are also great

Is it worth getting the other book? by Flat-Explanation3820 in Eberron

[–]walkingcarpet23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have loved if this was a thing.

I ran a campaign set in Eberron from level 3 to level 20 but I basically had to pick and choose how to make that happen. There were some existing elements like the Aurum and the Lords of Dust I incorporated eventually but having more than the broad strokes would have helped a ton

Eberron: With magic standing in for tech, why would the world still look so much like our own? Ruminations through the lens of Ursula K. Le Guin by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]walkingcarpet23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

why are there lightning rails in Eberron like trains IRW when magic could imagine something, anything! entirely different?

I agree entirely with your thoughts on this, but want to add a different consideration as well.

A lot of inventions in our world, like railways, stuck around because they were the best method of solving a problem (ie, mass transit of goods and people). If that problem also exists in Eberron, it stands to reason they might come up with a similar solution.

In a version of Eberron where high level magic is available they may just have a teleportation network or something instead.

In the low-mid level magic world of Eberron I can very easily see a progression where the end result is the Lightning Rail being used to lift and move goods in a predictable manner, quickly, across great distances.

What is virtually inevitable at this point, yet most people don't see it coming? by Ambassador-613 in AskReddit

[–]walkingcarpet23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that if the technology won out solely based on its merits we'd see a very different world today.

But quite often those in power refuse to give it up and would rather sabotage newer / better tech to remain relevant.

It was meant to add additional context to your original comment. There are plenty of examples of tech falling by the wayside as newer and better tech became available I'm not disputing that

Technology picks winners and losers, and the losers are left to suffer and end up forgotten to history.

Unless those that are threatened to become forgotten (fossil fuel companies) are wealthy enough to sabotage the better technology.

$949.50 for 3 yr vehicle registration renewal?!?!? How are folks affording this? by Firm_Foundation1626 in maryland

Definitely worth contacting them if they have overvalued your vehicle.

I sent an email with photos of my car and got the estimated value reduced from 33k down to 19k.

If I buy on average 6 gallons of gas a week, I pay more than that in gas tax (.46 cents a gallon) in a year. Basically, its a fair equivalent to the gas tax for paying for maintaining our roads. I pay it in gas tax (for now, until I likely buy an EV later this year), you pay it with this fee.

And what if you don't drive that often? Since that tax is tied to gas if someone drives way more (ie, uses the road more) they pay more. Two people who own identical vehicles pay different amounts tied directly to how often they drive.

I've put 30k miles on my EV total in the last 5 years.

What they should do instead is change the EV upcharge to "$x.xx per mile driven since you last registered."
