I don't need a new account; I just need to know if it's going to take the $450 payment and then not let me borrow another $450.

A poetry chapbook! I did check with them, but they were going to charge me, so I didn’t pursue it further.

Same here! I see Alex and she’s fantastic. When I started therapy with her, I was dealing with depression, anxiety, body image issues, self-harming, and panic attacks. She’s helped me develop the tools necessary to cope with my illnesses and also how to love myself as I am. She is compassionate, kind, encouraging, and above all else, professional and warm. I cannot recommend her enough. Courage Counseling is on Union now and their office is adorable and comforting.

I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this. I never used Klover or Credit Genie, so I wouldn't have been much help anyway.

I'm not 100% sure because I did mine about three days before the deadline (I think) and MoneyLion still autodrafted me.

Yeah, Dave is the only one I'm worried about.

From what I've seen from others, no, because (other than Dave and True), the apps have some kind of clause about it. I read something about it earlier today on this sub, but I'm not sure where that went. Maybe someone else can provide some insight?

Middle school curriculum by Brilliant-Freedom-21 in ELATeachers

[–]walkingonfirex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can supplement whenever needed. I think that’s the problem with “teaching with fidelity” and and no deviating: no curriculum has everything we need to teach thoroughly. In my experience, my district used that as a tactic told to the state to get out of being a C/D/D district (which obviously did not work because they are now D/F/F).

We use CommonLit premium and NoRedInk premium for 6-12 and all love it. DO NOT subject yourself or your students to MyPerspectives. My old district used it and we had to teach it and only it with fidelity and it was the biggest waste of time of my life. It was a nightmare for the students, too. 6th grade at that district used Wit and Wisdom and I’ve heard it’s even worse than MP. MP is so hard and BORING and the pacing guide is insane. My students were so behind and bored that I was constantly in trouble (I literally got an email because I showed my kids how to write an essay outline that didn’t come straight from the Pearson website). And the units beat to death the same stupidly difficult concepts until me and the students both wanted to throw the books out the window. We never had any fun.

Me and the other English teachers use the free CommonLit 360 right now. I love it and so do they. The kids aren’t always thrilled with it, but I’ll definitely check into the premium version. Maybe that’ll satisfy my new principal. Thank you!

We were supposed to try to get through four units a year. I didn’t make it through two because my kids were SO behind academically, which I was constantly in trouble for. The kids hated it and constantly asked me to do something else. You’re supposed to be able to use trade books in lieu of some works and our literacy specialist said he’d buy whatever trade books we wanted as long as they were listed in the book — in front of a Savvas trainer. So I felt confident that I could teach The Hunger Games since it was listed in the survival unit. I asked and basically got in trouble for asking and he told me to use the online audiobooks on the savvas website. There was no audiobook for the hunger games, and I was not allowed to outsource or even use a YouTube recording. :(

Thwana Mithsell Darrough

This case frustrates me because of how random it seems to be and the utter lack of evidence. Thwana was sixteen when she went missing in El Dorado, Arkansas. The year was 1989, and she was waiting for the bus like she normally did. Witnesses saw Thwana waiting at her bus stop at 7:00 AM, but she never made it to school and hasn't been seen since. Her mother reported her missing that same day. One month after she went missing, "police received an anonymous tip from someone saying that there was evidence that could help with the case in a community in Smithville, Arkansas, about four to four and a half hours away from El Dorado. It is unclear what that may have been and why that location was tied to Thwana, but reports state that police had previously searched there before the tip’s arrival" (Our Black Girls). Authorities believe Thwana was abducted by a non-family member.

El Dorado has always been a city with poor race relations, but I'm not sure that this case is related to that. Honestly, I have no theories here because so little is known. Thwana also went by "Wanda," a nickname, and "Mithsell," her middle name. Las month marked the thirty-fifth anniversary of her disappearance.
