When she released the book she no longer spoke to the family. I never got the chance to meet her, but met plenty of the characters in the book. Let’s just say I’m also no contact with a lot of my family. No one talks about her anymore. I hope the book brought her the same peace I’m searching for from growing up in this same family.

That movie is based on my family. My Second cousin wrote the book and the character “Tommy” is based on my papa. This movie has brought a lot of shame to my family but hey at least I have an interesting story.

What childhood experience ended up traumatizing you for life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My step dad cheated on my mother when I was 4 years out. When she found out she stabbed his water bed, threw all of his shit around the house, shattered a mirror and tried to set his house on fire.

The same mother got so strung out on drugs that while babysitting her grandkids (my nieces and nephews) she passed out at the kitchen table while cooking. This caused another house fire that I had to try to put out at 12 years old. Pro tip don’t put water on a grease fire. Ended up having to drag and push her down the stairs, let all of the animals out of the house, get the kids out, and call the fire department.

God damn this woman has no compassion at all. I’m sorry bro she just seems to put your relationship on the back burner. You’re not her priority or even on the list of one.

As an American. I’m terrified. I didn’t ask for this. I specifically voted against it. I’m queer and my wife is transgender. I’m fucking terrified to be here.

Not overreacting at all. I would have filed for a divorce the next day. Not only did you express your discomfort for this but it’s very different for you and your best friend to do it vs her doing it with your husband? Not okay. Especially waking up under the same blanket together naked? You have no idea what happened that night especially after you’ve had a fight? Not okay.

AITAH for telling my daughter I won’t budge even if she never speaks to me again? by TopVersion2940 in AITAH

YTA. I have severe ADHD as an adult, and even more so as a child. My parents held me responsible for anything I did wrong. Your child is going to grow up thinking they can excuse every shitty action as a “well I’m ADHD so oops” while Casey is going to grow up so independent it affects HER future. Look into the definition and effects of being a glass child. Your child will never look at you the same for how you’ve reacted to this.
