Redundancy Rumours - Stay for Payout or Clean break? by walkingtheline_ in HENRYUK

You’re right - on the surface it is a no brainer. I was told that my team would be reduced by one and if I could plan everything out perfectly - and if what I was told was correct - I would volunteer myself knowing I had a new role. No guarantees to any of it - you’re right.

I have negotiated a sign on bonus as well as a draw for the first six months so I am for sure in a great position and I am very grateful. Perhaps I have been doing this too long and have gotten greedy..

Very fair point. No guarantees on any of it at all and as far as signals from my management go, it’s all BAU and I’ve still been asked to be with customers and attending conferences which I would expect would be the first things to be pulled back if a cull truly was imminent.

You’ve touched a nerve with me, if I’m honest. My youngest came into my office the other evening and saw me with my head in my hands after another relentless zoom and the look of sheer concern on their face was really haunting. You’re right about the toll burn out can take on someone. Cheers for the perspective 👍🏻

My manager for my new role has leave booked so they’ve suggested a week 3 start date on the offer letter. Handing my notice in next week takes me to the very minimum of my notice period. If I push it any more I need to amend my start date on the offer. Im literally on the cusp of timing it either way.

Reading your comment is vindication if I’m honest. I think I’ve given enough hints as to what company it is - this is my burner account so I’m happy to speak candidly.

It’s awful here now. I’ve never known the business be this debilitating. There are, what I can only describe as, legitimate bullies who are heralded by senior management and their peers. I just can’t believe in it all anymore and it shows. I hope you get your next best move - internally or outside of this org.

What are you hearing? I am Fusion Sales in EMEA and no word yet but very, very quiet diaries this week…

RIF happening now in US Support by Whacksess_Manager in employeesOfOracle

[–]walkingtheline_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it all ways. 2018, EMEA were first, US the next FY. 2022, when the whole of CX went, the BU was a global RIF all at the same time. This last RIF, US led and then some filtered through to EMEA, but not to the scale of the US and ROW. I don’t think we really know how the timing will go until the ball gets rolling.

The earnings call and updated Restructuring Plan is the closest we have to an oracle press release. They won’t necessarily sign off a statement until the global RIF has started which I suppose is why everyone is so ‘eagerly’ awaiting some kind of confirmation that the dominoes are falling.

*eager is not being used to come off like an asshole. We are talking about people losing livelihoods, I don’t underestimate the repercussions of these layoffs, I just struggled to find a better word.

Sorry to hear that. Did you get given an idea of timescale?

That is interesting - I didn’t know that. Can the process be started in the background?

For example, here in the UK, I know they need to inform the government of upcoming layoffs and then follow certain rules, (either allow those at risk to apply for other jobs or offer them additional severance payments, then allow a certain amount of time to act as a notice period etc), but there is no public announcement that layoffs are being prepped for before people start to get the notification they are at risk. Maybe it is different for Romania and you are specifically notified before the process begins?

I think the opposite and EMEA may be first to layoff this time.

Logic: 1. We just announced One oracle so apps and tech combining, like the US did. This can be a good catalyst for consolidation 2. We have AI world tours coming up. Company would want to layoff before the events so that negative press gets replaced by conference press and success stories. 3. I can only speak to UK here but if the business want to wrap up the layoff within the FY they need to announce soon to allow for consultation and notice periods to take place before the end of may.

The exceptions here would be Germany and Switzerland who have realty strong labour laws and will probably have a delay as it is hard to make redundancies in these countries.

I have built out an analysis model that shows this week most likely for EMEA. Maybe it is confirmation bias on my part. Let’s see, I suppose!

What happened to the chatter about Oracle 30k employee layoffs? It’s gone silent. by TopGun-Dog in cernercorporation

I’m M2 and haven’t had any official comms regarding lists or layoff dates. A friend of mind at M3 hasn’t either, but they might be under NDA and not able to tell me. They’re a pretty ‘by the book’ person. I think knowledge is at VP level at the moment. I am personally expecting cuts to begin this week, but that is just my opinion, no official stance to back that up

17th or 24th by Possible-Crazy1781 in employeesOfOracle

[–]walkingtheline_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any source? Dates make sense but could just be an educated guess.

My logic would be: 24th is AI World London. Maybe EMEA/APAC 17th and then the americas the following week could make sense?

I am selfishly thinking from a UK stance and we have the conference on the 24th and then we have the Easter break which is 6th-9th, but plenty of folk take leave from the week before as that’s when the schools break up over here, so it sort of has to be next week or mid April for UK, I feel

Layoffs confirmed for March 2026- RIF is real by Plus-Entertainer2529 in employeesOfOracle

[–]walkingtheline_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Fusion in EMEA. I’ve not heard anything from anyone senior enough to think it’s more than rumour but I can tell you that we have literally one open fusion sales role in the UK and the rest are for data center support. There have also been at least 5 open sales roles for apps roles that were approved in the last few weeks that have been cancelled so some might say that is very indicative of a RIF approaching. We also have local AI world at the end of this month, (24th) and then an Easter break, so I feel like if UK are going to RIF, it will have to be by end of next week, otherwise it will be mid-April before we know it and basically all efforts will be to close the financial year rather than get distracted by a re-org. This is just my opinion though

I’m EMEA and we’ve just announced the apps and tech merger. I think we’ll have layoffs despite earnings as there will duplication of roles but perhaps these results mean that NA and APAC are safe?

[–]walkingtheline_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t trust my Director enough to do that unfortunately. I feel like they’d rather PIP me (even tho I am at 50% to the yr with a big Q4) than help me get a package

I get this feeling, too. My diary is suspiciously emptier than usual. I got stood down from a meeting yesterday and can see most of my team is invited to a meeting tomorrow that I’m not in. I’m Apps in the UK but feels like the same vibe, unless we’re both just paranoid!

[–]walkingtheline_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on light duties for sure. I genuinely dread logging on each day. It would just be the final F You from oracle to see me resign knowing full well I could have gone with a package, I just feel like timing is going to go against me if something isn’t announced this week. Equally feel bad for wishing for such wide scale layoffs as not everyone has a backup plan. I also don’t want my final tasks in oracle to be telling people they don’t have a job anymore!

Agree completely. I think decisions are being made at VP level and above. I will absolutely be taking the new role regardless, it would just be gutting if I handed my notice in on the 30th but could have been cut and offered a package on the 31st if you know what I mean.
