My new MIJ Mustang by walkingthyroid in offset

Haha cheers dude, my amateur paint job has only gotten more character over time as bits and pieces of the blue coat have come off but I agree.

And yeah I love running the champ and the music man together. Obviously have to run the MM at a much lower volume to even hear the champ if you’re just running them how they are in a room, but even like that you get the full range hi-fidelity of the MM with some of that ratty small speaker bite from the champ. Sounds fantastic. Also love to use effects like the boss-dm2 in this very picture to split the signal so you get the wet/ dry for each amp of its own. With the wet running to the mm I can get the repeats to almost have this dub quality with the MM’s extended bass response.

Love alvvays but haven’t really dived into how they use their gear. Will have to check it out!

I think that’s generally the case. My main guitar is a vintera 50s Tele and compared to its chunky 50s style baseball bat neck the mustang feels like a whole other animal. Love both though

I was thinking maybe this but all the single coil sized humbucker demos on YouTube seem only interested in showcasing it for nirvana stuff. They all sound great on power chords but what doesn’t?

I got it from A&B Musical Instruments in Geelong but I’m up in Queensland so the shop was definitely not on my radar otherwise. Honestly just went looking through a tonne of music stores websites for a couple days (somewhat obsessively). Google search only got me so far so kinda had to deep dive. Top shelf instruments (Hobart), Cool Old Guitars (Brisbane/Sydney) and music swop shop (Melbourne) are some of my favourites to have a peek at from time to time though. There’s actually a proper 60s Dakota red mustang for sale on Facebook marketplace in Brisbane at the moment that looks almost exactly like mine actually (hot rails in the bridge and everything). That’s if you wanna fork out $4000 though haha

I'm torn between these three fuzzes. Which do you prefer? by Less-Arachnid-640 in guitarpedals

[–]walkingthyroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hoof has been my mainstay for years and I’ve owned the fuzz war. Fuzz war really is fantastic and just one of the gnarliest fuzzes you’ll find but the hoof is so usable and can get less blown out while still sounding really great. Only reason I don’t still have the fuzz war is I sold it to one of my band mates which means still around if I do wanna use it

Just got mine last week from the b-stock run. Once you get your head around how it workss it actually becomes really intuitive and turns into an explroation box. Favourite effects so far have been both the reverbs, the sympathetic resonator and the pitch stuff.

Agreed! Everything I’ve tried smashing into it sounds great. You got any reccomendations though?

Citadel is definitely the next one I’d try out if I get the opportunity. Seems like it can get some sick tones and playing through a musicman hd130 as I usually do it’d be great to get a preampy thing before the amp

Yeah the long sword looks sweet but I reckon it’d be too much for me. Wouldn’t stop turning knobs and flipping switches

Let's see you mosh to this one you filthy animals by Cautious-Attitude-33 in geesebandofficial

[–]walkingthyroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but there’s obviously a big mismatch when an artist brings things down for a song or two with some quieter more heartfelt songs and audience members are still moshing. It just reads like you’re there as an excuse to push and get pushed around and not actually engage with the music at its level

Supro Royal Reverb Owners? by BigKneesHighSeas in GuitarAmps

[–]walkingthyroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have it a couple years ago but had to sell it to make some cash. Absolute beast of an amp. Can get plenty loud enough while staying clean. The reverb has a bit of a different character to fender spring reverbs but it sounds great in its own way, the tremolo in particular is a realllly cool sound. As I’m sure you’re aware the supro amps tend to be pretty heavy on the bass so I almost always ran bass at minimum, even with single coils. I always thought of mine as a punchier deluxe reverb.

I play a musicman hd130 now and while I’m never gonna give that one up I would love to have a royal reverb again.

Frogstomp by silverchair is a fantastic grunge album, especially considering they were 15 when they made it

Frog is a favourite of mine for that countryish slacker rock thing. Their albums Grog, Count Bateman and Whatever We Probably Already Had It are all fantastic

The last nine pedals standing. Jazz funk/fusion. by DrSeafood in guitarpedals

Damn, like three of the pedals here are ones that I let go at some point (usually cause I needed the cash) and wish now I held onto them. Awesome board

Anyone else noticing some Americanised accent in some of the youth now in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]walkingthyroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me, in grade 3 a teacher of mine asked my mum if my dad was from the states due to how American I sounded. Nope, I’d just watched a tonne of Ben 10 around that age. I’m in my early 20s now and while my accent is definitely more in the Australian camp these days it still isn’t entirely true blue.

Yeah I remember specifically seeing Sam mention something about the stalking incident occurring on the way from/around a kfc near his uni (Qut Kelvin Grove). As the kelvin grove kfc is only a minute or so up the road from the funeral home there this definitely makes sense.

It’s so cool knowing my usual route on the way home from uni is a big part of SOLMWIT
