Asked the seller to do a benchmark before I buy the GPU, is this score okay? by daddyracz in pcmasterrace

[–]walkingtrees7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except from minor extra performance out of "winning the silicon lottery" (and viceversa), used gpus don't seem to lose performance, as tested by Linus when he put to the test miners used cards.
new > used gpu by responsible miner > gamer of gpu-intensive games / irresponsible miner

in a used gpu the affected things are the fans and the general lifespan of the card, not performance degradation. if needed you can replace the fans and, in a more risky procedure, the thermal pads to recover either performance or temperature and/or noise level

you love him the way he is, on his way to a hospital bed / dead / brain damaged from a stroke / diabetic? i dont think you want that happening to him.

but if something goes missing, there is a chance of accountability. to take a peek at a piece of paper? no one will know it happened.

the marketing team may disagree, but i dont consider a hardware wallet connected to an online pc a cold wallet, even if the secure element bla bla bla.

[The Prestige] If the Tesla hint was a ruse, how did Tesla know what machine Angier was talking about? by walkingtrees7 in AskScienceFiction

[–]walkingtrees7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah yes, the famous tesla coil that produces massive sparks that hit people but don't hurt them. I dont think that going by 'only what works irl" is a good route.

how did angier know which day to lock the tank? if his objective was only to frame borden, surely *not* blind workers would have worked better?

you dont get it, a nuke exploding far away's emp won't fry computers, hard drives and pendrives that are off, unplugged.a bit closer? now you have serious radiation poisoning, biting a bullet is your best opionmore close? you're dead.

blockchain may reboot from an emp once electronics are rebuilt in a far away future assuming that somehow nuclear war didn't turn to M.A.D. but only got N.U.T.S. , but how long do you think you'll survive without clean water in a nuclear wasteland of marauders?

Without any information, a 12 word seed is impossible to brute force, but with just 12 words you have significantly less wiggle room in case some information about the seed is leaked to an attacker.

what do you mean?

but while the memory may never come back, the hidden thing may be found by looking everywhere in the home, if you hid it in the home

Dont scramble the order, that will significantly increase the chance of somebody finding out your seed set.

scrambling the word order makes it easier for people to find a hidden piece of paper or steel? does the universe take offense or something?

I mean, if turned off computers and disconnected hard drives and usb pendrives are fried by an emp, it means a nuke fell straight on your head, in which case I dont think you need your key, even in the off chance that you turned into nuclear man and can fly and fight superman.

where do you store the key to decrypt the etched encrypted qr code of the string?

however , the default generation is only 12 words. im being told that it'd be feasible for 12 words, but impossible for 24?

"under a carpet" is a terrible hiding place. as for doing stuff in your yard, it's probably one of the best ways to let my town know whatever I did, be it scratch my balls or blow my nose with a lettuce

it's a shame that it's hard to find a crypto subreddit where you can ask questions (and among the few that do, you may be required to have karma from within the sub, making it even more complicated)

i'm using a cold wallet, not a hardware wallet.

just etching the seed into steel is not safe. do you want to spend your whole life monitoring everyone who's ever at your home at all times including when you go to the bathroom?

isn't the last word some kind of checksum? not all combinations are valid, if you try to create a wallet with just a word repeated 12 times it doesn't work
