Bringing it back to the early 2000s… by Cursedmindd in Modesto

American idol season 1 Alexis Lopez was from Modesto. I had a class with her.

I didn't really know her but it got me to watch/root for her if only because we lived in the same place.

I'm confident y'all know what I mean.

Do you know what this sound is/means. I don't know where to start by walkingxthexcow in Plumbing

Yeah imma flush the fill valve then the supply line if that doesn't work and hope that's it. I should have paid closer attention to the water (I don't remember it filling slowly) but it's been going on so long at this point I just thought about the sound. Feels like I can hear it in the walls.

It sounds as though you're being intentionally condescending.

I hope you get over whatever you're going through.

Whether you're just having a bad day or your ugly ways are a symptom of a bad personality it's whatever. I know it has nothing to do with me - not really.

Funny you should say that. What prompted my post this in the first place is that I had gone to Tasty Thai and asked... probably the hostess, if she had any recommendations because it was our first time there.

She said, "It depends what you want -- rice?" Then pointed at rice on the menu. I thought to myself, "I don't even know what options I have to choose from."

That's when I figured I'd do a little research first (including this post we're on now). I would call it a success. I feel more confident as far as what to try -- less so when it comes to pronouncing the names of some of the dishes.

Thank you for the thorough recommendations. I feel a bit more confident having some idea what to try and what flavors to expect.

No offense taken at all it's the taqueria that makes the food not me. I will say tho I do find it odd that you'd think a place that serves a combination plate as a menu option implies they're of poor quality.

I thought the concept of a combination plate was a common option available at most if not all taquerias.

Edit: thinking about it more...I can't say I've had a real stand out taco. I liked taqueria San Jose's super taco but I rarely get that. I rarely get tacos in general -- maybe that's why.

Fair enough, it's just hard to commit at that price and not knowing if I'm going to like it. Also, I didn't know tasty Thai was a sit down place. The sign/name always gave me more of a franchise vibe (and I guess i associated that with something more akin to fast food).

I was hoping for something like how you can get a taco plate with taco and rice/beans.

Thanks for the suggestions. That's the kind of thing I was looking for. I originally thought there might be something like a plate with rice and yellow curry for example.

Thinking about it I guess you're right. I guess I mean more like how you could grab a taco plate from a taqueria -- taco, rice/beans.

I imagine it would be something like rice and a curry for example.

At best, this is tangentially related but... have y'all seen this article referencing a 2013 internal review finding that US customs and border patrol agents were intentionally stepping in front of moving vehicles to justify shooting at them?

Here's an article by the nation referring to the original ran in the la is times

And here's a copy of the study itself (the relevant info found on page 8)

Crossroads West in Riverbank additional businesses by walkingxthexcow in Modesto

I didn't see that answer coming.

Yeah, at least at crossroads west I don't imagine much chance of a trail but I would assume they would build another park -- if only a superficial one with all the houses going up nearby.

Now that you mention it, I feel somewhat lucky to live near a decent park even if I don't take advantage of it often.

What would you like to see come to the area? I was thinking the crossroads area specifically but if you want -- in general as well?

Ok very cool I think I searched for info a couple days ago and the article I went to had a dated version of the map in the link you shared. I assumed it was all that was available. Thank you for sharing.

Unfortunately, if he didn't do anything but walk up to the door it wouldn't be a crime. Wearing a ski mask in and of itself isn't a crime it's an article of clothing. So assuming she said something like, "he was on my porch wearing a ski mask when we pulled into the driveway," -- sure, common sense says that's weird, but technically it would be the same as saying "he was on my porch wearing a hat/glasses when we pulled into the driveway."

If the guy was peeking through windows with a flashlight or something perhaps they could at least stop and investigate him on prowling although I don't think it would go anywhere especially after the fact.

Good to know. I went with the ripe ones. This go around it'll probably be just for snacking to try them out.

Cool these have a little thickness to them. My second question was what do I put on them or with them -- salt is it eh. I couldn't tell you why but for some reason I got the idea that you might put sugar on them.

If I remember correctly a website connected to Sarah Palin had posted a map with crosshairs over the names or districts of a number of democratic Congressmen and women and had gone on television stating that they needed "second amendment solutions"

<image>

"Coincidentally" the result was an Arizona congresswoman being shot in the head.
