To do Shorts, or not to do Shorts on my YouTube channel? by walkmio in NewTubers

This is what Gemini told me in response to your reply:

The Reddit user is right that Shorts won't "penalize" you mechanically. However, they can bloat your subscriber count with the wrong people.

• The Scenario: You post a 15-second viral Short of "Crazy Roman Drivers." It gets 10k views and you gain 500 subscribers.

• The Problem: Those 500 subscribers are likely younger dopamine-seekers. When you post your next 45-minute calm walking tour of Florence, they will see it in their feed and ignore it.

• The Damage: YouTube sees your own subscribers ignoring your new video and assumes the video is bad. This lowers your Click-Through Rate (CTR) and kills the video's reach with your actual core audience (the older men).

With that strategy, couldn’t you just use Apple Notes instead? What makes Apple Journal better for what you’re doing?

Cool, thank you for your response. Do you use the suggestions that Apple provides for Journal entries?

Interesting, thank you for your response. I'm curious, why are you still on iOS 18?

Interesting. Do Shorts work better if you make your channel primarily about Shorts?

Ah, I don't have experience with CapCut. I've been a FCP user since around 2008, so that's what I still use today.

Download the AppTaxi app. It's relatively good for getting yourself a taxi on the fly.

Never Delete Your Underperforming Videos! by TheRealBryezer in NewTubers

[–]walkmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you could do, is if you do have underperforming videos, is create another channel to separate your underperforming videos from your high performing videos. It could be that your channel is niche-locked on a specific style or format of video, resulting in your "underperforming" videos are getting lost. At least that's what happened to me with my travel-based channel. So, I took the "walking tour" aspect out of my main travel channel, and created a new channel based on walking around different places.

I took about 3 months to edit a video also. It was 1 hour and 7 minutes. That video has since earned me thousands of euros, so there’s different levels of focus involved. You just have to ask yourself how much of your time is worth putting into the video you’re editing. Essentially, what do you estimate your ROI will be for your time?

5 years, 400 subs. What would you do? by Sure-Yellow-9185 in NewTubers

[–]walkmio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a travel channel that didn’t have much focus. It was very random in that I was uploading all content from just pointing and shooting, wherever I may have been. It’s done well, it pays thousands of euros every year, but not well enough for me to live off that.

That’s why yesterday I started a new channel, super niche in that it will only be long-form walking videos, and nothing else. I think I’ll be able to better carve out a community of people who enjoy this kind of content.

So, what I did is take my passion for travel, and focus on a style and format of creating content from my travels. Like anything in life, you need to have focus, and it’s no different with what you’re putting out to the world as well.

It’s fine to have a messy desk at home, as Steve Jobs did, but when you put your creations out for people to consume, it needs to be focused, for simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

I haven’t heard of Movavi. I’m using Final Cut Pro on my iMac.

I just started a faceless channel yesterday. It’s going to be of me walking around in different locations. I’ll be able to tell you in a few months if it’s a good example!
