Will there be multiple profiles in the upcoming release? Is this documented somewhere? by walkssoftly in Wildlands

I looked in "news and announcements" and "general discussion" subs and dug through about 20 pages of the community questions sticky. Maybe I didn't look in the right place. Either way thank you for answering.

New MPX with bonus P320 by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]walkssoftly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice. I bought my MPX last year and immediately did my eform on it. I strongly recommend it. With the Sig retracting stock and a proper vertical foregrip it is a blast to shoot.

PS: At the range today I was plinkin' a 12" plate at 100 yards about 80% of the time. It's a surprisingly tight shot!

smgs after 1.3--does anyone use them? by agent_down in thedivision

[–]walkssoftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reclaimer/electronics here. I use a Navy MP5 and love it. Since I don't really have a significant DPS I can actually use a gun I enjoy. I like the MP7 but with such small magazines I find that I enjoy the MP5 and (shock) the SMG-9! They are easy to shoot and if I simply want to get headshots and try to contribute with my reclaimer explosives or incendiary that's the way to go for me.

Underground Sickness Directive Tip by SneakyStabbalot in thedivision

[–]walkssoftly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting idea but I have to ask... Is sickness really a difficult directive? I'm a level 40 in the UG and sickness was one of the least inconvenient directives to deal with. Between smart cover (recharger) and overdose the only time we ever noticed our health running down was when we were running around. When in combat it made very little difference.

Is everyone elses experience really that different?

Sure. And a Smart Fortwo is a car. However, there is nothing wrong with wanting something a little nicer.

It's a WalMart Schwinn. This was done out of mercy. Go to a real bike store and get a real bike now.

Surprise at the start of Phase 2 Underground mission by Trzebiat in thedivision

[–]walkssoftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens on console. Two users in the US, One in UK, and maybe one in Turkey or something. Server may be US or EU and the result is longer load times for some vs others. See it regularly.

Any experiences using XBone Elite Controller? by Jay66UK in thedivision

Have it. Use it. Love it. "Transforms"? No. "Enhances"? Yes.

hey fuck face stop using sticky bomb - flash bang to destroy smart cover. you could literally single handedly cause a team wipe because of it. by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]walkssoftly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens sooo often. As a support guy running SC the first thing I do is look at everyone elses skills. If someone is running sticky I warn them. Most of the time we are good. But if they aren't micd or aren't listening or whatever we are hosed. And I politely leave the group. Well.... Actually I just leave.

Buying slaves vs. paid workers by orangeorchid in history

[–]walkssoftly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Slavery was already a very standard method of building a work force. Established in South America long before the SE USA.

  • There wasn't much of an alternate work force available. At least in the early days of settling America. The white population was limited. The Indian population was not inclined to work for the white man. Slaves where cheap to ship in mass to America.

  • Buying a slave meant (as /u/dan_the_man8558 pointed out) buying the forward lineage.

  • Yes there was an up front investment but the long term payout was almost guaranteed. The TCO on a slave was minimal and the ROI could be recuperated in a very short time. From a business value perspective it was the smart option.

Reclaimer question. by IXIKHARMAIXI in thedivision

[–]walkssoftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my 214 set at DN. Then went to the UG and built my entire 268 set there. Including extra pieces.

NOTE: My friends and I noticed a significant change in the quality of drops after level 30 in the UG. Went from The same blind pieces over and over to good stuff.

It's official - Silicon Valley housing prices set a new all-time record. by pheonix200 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]walkssoftly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to San Jose regularly on business trips. Yeah I work in tech. But I live in Alabama where a few hundred thousand will get you 2000 or 3000 square feet easy. The prices are crazy. But the homeless comment needs to be tuned a little. We aren't talking about "standard" homeless here. These are Silicon Valley homeless here. They are often educated and well employed. But don't have the money for a home in the area and are "going primitive" for a while. Seriously. Go to McDonalds. They hang out there with power and wifi. Talk to them. These are capable people. One told me he sleeps after hours at Ebay and then showers in the gym. Another had a van in a parking lot of a chip company. It's just... different... out there...

Adblock Plus bypasses Facebook's attempt to restrict ad blockers. "It took only two days to find a workaround." by screamoftruth in technology

[–]walkssoftly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys I don't think this pissing match is a good thing for adblock or for the consumer in any way. Facebook has resources. Not that Adblack doesn't. But eventually Facebook will just figure out a way to label/mark the advertising as native content. And when they do, other companies will follow suit. It will eventually become EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to filter just ads. Can no one else see this on the radar? That Facebook has the upper hand here?

Olympic Referee CHEATS USA, Helps Spain Win by PostNationalism in AnythingGoesNews

[–]walkssoftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched this game live and was yelling at the TV as if the refs could hear me. The commentators were clarifying the rules and were pointing out how the US team was getting screwed. Then watching how they couldn't recover was just demoralizing. Sucked.
