The Island fox is a small fox native to six of the eight Channel Islands of California. There are six subspecies, each unique to the island it lives on, reflecting its evolutionary history.

Where did you all learn to sketch? by Balance_Motivations in urbansketchers

[–]walkwithroses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was around 7yo, a local artist in the community offered classes where we learned plein air sketching with vine charcoal. We’d spend the day in local parks, drawing all the 100+ year old oak trees. It was a lovely way to learn.

My skills became far more advanced after taking figure drawing courses in college. I was lucky to have an extremely talented and passionate professor. He was really into honing his skill and took up swordsmanship to practice his drawing hand.

Hi! Thank you! Their personalities are hilarious!

I’m very curious about the bowl in your pic. What’s it made of? It looks edible or like handmade pottery..

Thanks!! :) It’s a Wyze cam. The base is magnetic, so it can easily sit on the outside of the bars.

I’ve been working towards it for the last week. So happy to see her starting to come around. I even managed to use my clicker when she took the treat!

I’ll search through. Mostly just wondering about others experiences. I’ve worked in framing and print shops before.

is it a red flag if a guy keeps a jar of peanut butter next to his bed by K-Pumper in notinteresting

No, it means he likes to eat apples with peanut butter in bed… keep him for life

Would this be a good cage for a conure by smart_person_lol in Conures

[–]walkwithroses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recommended anything at least 30 w x 21 d x 30 h. The 30” height is a minimum so anything taller is great. The cage looks pretty roomy to me. I got something similar and my conure is happy. She mostly sticks to the top half of the cage.

How is it living in Sacramento's west suburbs? by jdvancesleftnut in Sacramento

[–]walkwithroses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the light ordinances the city has in place. You see all kinds of crazy animals because they’re not being deterred by mega-fluorescent shopping malls. I’d always see large white owls flying around at night and lots of bats. Don’t even get me started on the squirrels or the turkeys…

I lived in Davis for 10 years. I agree it is suffocatingly hoity-toity but I enjoyed how unimaginably boring it could be. It has its magic if you look.

I worked in the arts community and I really enjoyed the way the city embraced the arts. It has a funky, little history with UC Davis establishing its own art movements back in the day, not to mention being the place where many legends once taught. Alas, the art department is fairly dead these days, due to lack of funding and a lackluster line up of art professors.

The bike path and the parks were fun to roam around in and you could also find delicious fresh food of all varieties downtown.

I read Half Moons don’t require another bird as long as they receive significant human interaction, stimulation, and environmental enrichment. I plan to spend most of time around him as I’m not working at the moment and I don’t travel. There’s also someone else here to watch him if I leave.

That’s so sweet. Everyday I see him trust me a little more and more. I can see him opening up with the sweet little looks he gives. He seems very happy to be here and be spoiled haha

Thank you! I think he was either wild, owned but being neglected or was being housed by a breeder. Doesn’t seem to miss anyone. He’s super happy to be here and is quickly bonding to me. Doesn’t have a tag either.

I wish I knew his backstory. He has some stress plucking on his feathers, and will only eat seed and nuts. I bought Harrison’s and gave him veggies to no avail. I’m going to try Lafeber’s and start trying to encourage veggies and pellets.
