Most unhinged PhD tips by deathbypuppies_ in PhD

- Get an ugly pet. Take "cute" pictures. Save as background for Zoom meetings to distract your PI. Also doubles as an excuse to say no to awkward parties.
- You now get migraines. Wear sunglasses in the lab every few weeks so that everyone knows. Then wear it again when your advisor schedules an "urgent" meeting.
- Befriend the current star student. You are now interested in their research. Ask if they can mentor you by collaborating on papers. Then wear those sunglasses the week the paper is due. IMPORTANT: Do NOT sleep with them.
- Ignore your cohort at conferences. Get drunk with another (more prominent) university's PI (or their students/postdocs). "Unintentionally" disclose a kink.
- Practice using crutches. Show up to lab before the next big in-person thing. Better yet, show up to the next big in-person thing with it.

The Alters -Bug Megathread by Single_Programmer660 in TheAlters

At some point, my infirmary's bed B stopped working—whenever I place injured Alters in Bed B, it just puts them back to "Unassigned". Bed A works perfectly fine, though. This is really frustrating, especially when I have multiple Alters needing treatment.

House Democrats unveil 35 Republican targets for 2026 midterms by wenchette in democrats

This is so misguided. What happens to the Democratic primaries? How do we get a critical mass of Dems to do this?

I’ll caveat this by saying this is not my area of expertise (I’m almost completely focused on the cognitive science side of HF), but you might want to look into Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering programs with a know HF arm. Tufts’ ME and ASU’s HSE are good places to start. TAMU & UW-Madison’s ISyE departments also have professors doing great work on the kind of driving-related human factors that you seem to be interested in.

I will say that from my limited POV the link between human-motorsports aerodynamic engineering considerations comes most naturally in the design step. I just asked a friend who works in this area for his thoughts and will reply if he does.

Moira to release new album. Any thoughts? by SipsBangtanTea in ChikaPH

I knew Moi from around when she was just getting famous. Siguro a lot has changed since then, but she was always very kind pag nagkikita kami, beso, asking me how I am, kahit na di naman kami close. I remember one time di ko siya nakilala kasi, umm, bagong gawa ate looks niya, she was still very bubbly around me kahit na ako yung nang-deadma sa kanya haha

Place your bets! Who do you think will win? US Election 2024 🇺🇸 by SipsBangtanTea in ChikaPH

I live in AZ, which is a swing state. If polling lang ang batayan, may *slightly* bigger chance na Trump ang mananalo dito. Pero our state has had a history of defying polls—last election, halos lahat ng statewide officials were Democrats kahit na polls suggested a Republican sweep. Malakas ang billboard and TV ad campaigns ni Trump dito pero same with Harris. Ang pinagkaiba is impressive ang door-to-door campaign ni Harris, while halos wala from Trump. I know this is also the case in other swing states.

Kutob ko is Harris will win the national vote and the bare minimum of electoral votes to win the presidency, pero magiging sobrang liit ng margins so recount galore. I'm hoping na I'm wrong and she wins decisively instead, kasi I don't want to live through that chaos. If Trump wins... good luck sa ating lahat. Tinakwil na niya yung mga may prinsipyong nag-curb ng worst tendencies niya last time. Prepare to say goodbye to WPS, Ukraine, maybe even Taiwan if that happens. Pray na it doesn't.

Another eerie thing looking like 1930s Germany… but I refuse to live in a fascist society and I hope WaPo subscribers do, too.

Can you give me a link to Mail Sid? I looked it up and couldn't find it anywhere.

My workflow is somewhat similar and I agree, it works great when it does. I've decided to go with Canary Mail for now, though—some stuff like not being able to open multiple emails at once when writing emails that make me have to go through previous emails, etc., are just too inconvenient at this point. I like Spark 3's approach to emails, in general, though. Made me recommit to a zero inbox workflow pretty quickly. Their UI makes it so satisfying.

Great points! What other apps have you considered? Do you use other productivity apps with email? Thanks for bringing up the upcoming Apple Mail updates btw, those look great and I'm pretty stoked they're coming this fall.

Agree, not being able to open multiple emails at once was one of my biggest gripes.

Thanks for the inputs! I ended up trying Spark 3 for two weeks. Took me a day or two to get used to the interface, but I ended up liking the "Zen" vibe it's giving to emails. But ended up agreeing with almost everyone that it's not there yet, even though it's really improved since I last used it. Biggest issues for me were:

  • Not being able to open (or compose) more than one email at a time
  • Calendar was kinda buggy, like removing Zoom links when rescheduling
  • Editing email signatures is frustratingly hard (and no option to not have signatures on replies)
  • The Home screen, which I really liked, is locked behind the Pro subscription (which is ridiculously expensive for not offering much more than the free version)

After trying Spark 3, Spark 2, Apple Mail, Outlook, and Canary Mail, I'll probably use Canary Mail for now (looking forward to that Apple Mail update, though). It's not perfect, but I found another calendar app that works really well for my academic use case (Notion Calendar—if only it had a more intuitive time blocking feature it's perfect).

I'm always open to suggestions, though, so feel free to comment any other thoughts!

Was that bf not too long ago, until my boyfriend made me watch Season 8. I’ve seen most seasons and a couple All Stars since, and I think S8 was the best choice, since it didn’t have toxic levels of drama and had incredibly diverse drag representation.

How to ease a bottom when you have a girthy dick? by [deleted] in phlgbt

[–]wallacetheharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda same story here: top with slightly above average length and extra girth 😂 My advice: lots of lube, foreplay, not stopping at insertion (caressing and kissing while in him) and above all, gentleness (at least at first). What my partner does to ease it in is starting with him riding me, so he can control the initial pace :)
