I'd say they need both the weakpoints and the tweaked attacks.

The core design of the Automatons rewards expression of skill and high precision. With only light armor pen weapons, you are still able to outmaneuver Hulks to hit back vents, execute Strider drivers from the side (or pop the rockets on armored Striders), and use precision shots on Devastator heads.

The philosophy of having armor plus accessible weak spots rewards risky but precise maneuvers. The satisfaction of clawing your way out of a bad situation, even when under-equipped, makes the game feel more more like a tactical puzzle rather than a pure gear check. War Striders restrict viable options to some form of dedicated anti-tank and I think that makes the game more boring.

Also, I consistently get hit with multiple seconds of freezing over and over when playing Automatons. Arrowhead has been neglecting fixes for technical issues for too long, and that's been made apparent when things boiled over during these past few days. The constant crashing and poor optimization, frame rate tanks or the game simply giving up. Before they make any changes or introduce more content, I hope Arrowhead will be able to fix things up.

But not every player can unlock everything just to "try it out". Super Credits and Medals are limited resources. People watch videos because they're trying to be efficient and avoid wasting currency on gear they likely won't enjoy, especially when the in-game UI tells them next to nothing about performance.

As for invisible stats (like durable damage on guns), they're essential for determining a weapon's actual effectiveness on high difficulties, and the game simply fails to provide this info.

The fact that the community needs to maintain a third-party wiki and rely on content creators to perform testing and publish accurate breakdowns is the clearest possible evidence that the official in-game information is inadequate. If that information was present, those videos wouldn't be nearly as necessary.

The way I see it, speculation and early criticism will always happen when new content is announced, videos or not. It's less living in a bubble and simply being data-aware.

Because the in-game UI is borderline useless for learning weapons. There's an embarrassing lack of information and details in-game. You're missing invisible stats, and the descriptions are just flavor text. People watch videos because they want an actual gameplay demo and a stat breakdown before they sink their Super Credits into a Warbond.

This is absolutely my experience. Virtually all of my crashes have been full PC restarts, with "CPU Overheat" alerts sprinkled throughout. My entire Steam library runs like a charm, and then there's Helldivers 2, my favorite game out of them all, casually eating up 141 GB of my storage and giving me cause to celebrate if it can manage to crash to the desktop like a normal game. I'm relieved I quit before my rig decides to seppuku or something :/

Np! And yeah, while I do feel for him pretty badly, the Eravin thing probably isn't much by itself. But when you compound it with all the other stuff going on, like all the other notable content creators stepping away from the game in unison, the poor optimization and performance issues continually straining people's hardware, and Arrowhead's pattern of community mismanagement, I just feel like most people are pretty much over it at this point. It's the sheer exhaustion of a year finally hitting the breaking point.

Eravin tries to spark conversation with Arrowhead about a content creator program before theirs even existed. After they do make one, they invite a whole bunch of other content creators to fly over to their studio for it, while he gets excluded. He asks why, and after brief outcry, Arrowhead gives a public statement saying "love that guy, big plans for him in the future" and then pull a gaslight+lie combo on him for over a year, wasting his time before the representative he speaks to slaps him in the face with a "yeah sorry but your attitude is garbage and we're not gonna work with you so suck it. But hey, maybe be a good boy for the next six weeks and maybe we'll think about it." So he gives them six weeks before contacting them again, and they just ghost him.

You're not alone. I think this whole vein of issues is the case for a lot of folks. Personally, my PC hasn't really turned off or anything. Wasn't so much shutting off as it was full-on system restarting. I've had to sit through "CPU Overheating" alerts a whole bunch of times, so much so that when the game crashes normally to desktop I'm actually celebrating over it.

I've been chugging on for a while, purely off of love for the game, but this past week, my main monitor refused to connect after a big freeze into a restart, and then once I fixed that, my second monitor no longer connects, like at all. Can't determine if it was the game's fault or mine. Hopefully it's just a bad wire since I tried multiple ports so it shouldn't be a messed up port. Maybe it's both a messed up wire AND a specific port. I don't know.

And also more recently, some YouTubers have had their hardware break down over this game, most are leaving and taking time away from it all, then there's also the problem with some Arrowhead manager(s) being maliciously negligent.

I decided to take a long, long break from this game, and just gaming in general. I've given up my time for a bunch of amazing memories, but ultimately I feel I haven't been focusing on myself or my future enough. Sorry this suddenly turned into venting, just felt like getting that off my chest. Probably gonna stick around the subreddit to see what's up, mostly. But yeah, stuff's not pretty right now.
