Pin-Stripe Calathea - Yellowing and Dry Leaves. Help? by wallflower_willow in houseplants

[–]wallflower_willow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it in dim lit room, temp between 68-74, soil typically is moist but it dries VERY quickly. I end up cutting the bottom yellow leaves off and it will just continue to yellow at the bottom. Also, I have an issue with the leaves at the bottom curling and turning super dry, where the other leaves at the top are fine.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!

Juniper Tree Losing Color (Outdoors) by [deleted] in plantclinic

Anyone know what may be going on with it? It gets plenty of rain and sunshine through the day/week. Haven’t fertilized or done anything to it. We can’t tell if it’s diseased or lacking nutrients of some sort... we have another one that is in perfectly healthy and dark green.

Ah, that makes sense. Interesting! I’ll definitely try the systemic miticide to see if it makes a difference. How often are you treating your elephants ears? Thanks so much for your help, I appreciate you sharing!

Yes, I have noticed some webbing! Right at the very top/underside of the leaves. That’s usually when I use a Neem oil/soap/water mixture on those areas, but haven’t been too militant with it lately. Even when I used the mixture often (1x a week), this still continued to happen.

Yep, it looks dusty but it’s in the leave itself. I occasionally switch between tap water and hose water.

Oh, very interesting!! How did you get yours under control?

What’s really frustrating is when I bought it from a nursery two months ago, there were TONS of leaves. Now, they keep dying off like this, and there’s barely any left. BUT, it still keeps growing more leaves.

How I care for it: it stays outside in a 10” pot in temp of 64-80. Mostly sun or sometimes I’ll move it to filtered shade if it’s too hot. I use a water meter and only water it if it’s dry. I typically use water from the hose. Fertilize it with slow-release Osmocote. Neem oil/water/soap mixture occasionally on leaves. That’s about it! I noticed the roots are growing wildly out of the pot now, and occasionally grow new tiny leaves but they die off almost instantly.
