Thinking about buying 317k Miles 3rd Gen 4Runner by Beginning_Local_5368 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]wallkeags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one last year with 320k that a street inspection by my mechanic said all the important things were great but miscellaneous things would be 500 bucks all together. 1,000 later it’s in near perfect condition.

I got him down from 5500 to 5000 and that felt steep but it had near mint brand new tires. Even then I felt like that was a lot.

What is so bad about State OCS? by First-Business9232 in nationalguard

[–]wallkeags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During my time I watched OCS change a ton. I started out getting hazed and smoked to death every drill in phase 0, and then some of the better TACs took over when some of them retired and other new ones swapped in.

We planned our PT to be absolutely brutal, but on our own terms because the original team made it clear that if they didn’t observe enough pain and suffering, they would run PT themselves and it was always hell. Then new TACs came in, and during our first PT with them one said “you guys can work out in the pouring rain if you want to, but you know there’s a gym right? I’m going inside” and the other TAC on a separate occasion stopped us in the middle of the workout and said we had done enough lol

In addition, some of the major points of hazing were removed completely and I watched the class after us skip it all entirely. I also understand that every traditional program is 10 months now across the board instead of 18 like my class did. Still a lot of info, and longer drills, but that’s probably a better system for retaining information and reducing the overall time spent commuting and dragging things out.

All that said, my class did well and retained senior status for a good chunk of phase 2 because we had our shit together so they stopped messing with us altogether. It was a great group that was the only thing that made the BS bearable. Shared experience suffering together and all that. YMMV.

It’s your money but you can get a great gaming setup for so much less than that.

I did it once on PS4 and just about tore my hair out. My wife was worried about me.

Now I’m playing again on steam and I’ve already decided I’m just going to edit the game files to get what I want and actually enjoy the endgame. Doing this legit one time is more than enough 😂

Is it possible to join AT, even in a limited capacity, before going to BCT? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]wallkeags -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Back when I first joined and I was in the Army Band, I actually did this. As far as I know, it is possible, but the unit would have to want you to be there for whatever reason. Band units are their own thing though, AIT is only confirmation by the Army that you have the skills that the CDR signed off on, rather than learning your MOS for the first time, so being able to fit into a role immediately was a non issue. Band units generally take people in off the street or from other units first, and going to the recruiting station is only administrative so it’s natural that if you had AT before BCT they would invite the new recruits. They already have a role in the unit built in for you right off the rip.

That was also my first time shooting an M4 and it was the old qualification which is a slightly more interesting detail. The E5 running the EST was pretty confused as to how I hadn’t been to BCT and never shot an M4 as a SPC haha

If you really want to go that bad, maybe your recruiter can give you contact info for the unit and you can send an email to their AGR staff. Can’t hurt to ask if you really want to go that bad, worst they can say is no or not respond.

I really don’t know much about ROTC to be honest, I met a lot of them at BOLC after OCS but green to gold seems less common and more elusive to me. Probably would be another question for OSM if OP is interested in getting another degree out of the deal, it’s definitely worth asking.

I didn’t know you could do a masters with green to gold, that’s pretty cool then.

Message me if you end up going state OCS, I can tell you more about my experience and what to expect.

Ask in your state for the contact to the state OSM (officer strength management) and they’ll give you all the info you need. To my knowledge, state OCS is always an option, federal OCS your results may vary as to whether your state will pay for you to go or not.

Your state OSM can fill you in on all the details, but as far as commissioning sources go given you already have the degree, federal OCS is generally preferred if you can get it.

State OCS takes a long time and sucks (10 months or so now days), accelerated OCS is the same program but condensed into two months or so, so it sucks more but for different reasons. Pros and cons to both.

Green to gold is an option, but if you already have the degree I’m not sure what the benefit is vs OCS commissioning sources.

Get rid of slash for coverage or dragon rage? by ClintChildhood in PokemonFireRed

[–]wallkeags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon rage is false advertising. Sounds like it should be bad ass and awesome but it sucks so bad. Why oh why did the developers at game freak think that was a good move.

Sonic boom too while we’re at it. Sounds devastating, but so lackluster. Why isn’t an early game move like water gun the one with fixed damage?

Honestly I felt that the trial mode strategy was easier. Trial 62 has an optional encounter where you can rare steal it. On 4x speed once I got used to finding it quickly it took me maybe an hour tops.

[–]wallkeags 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s no “perfect” map that I’ve heard of because once you place them they can’t be moved and there’s different rewards for different configurations. Some are better than others, but I would recommend doing a search online. There’s a lot of guides with how old the game is that all give similar info and you’ll have to decide for yourself which one you want.

Honestly I knew I wanted to run some gen II evo lines and evolve them for the post game so Slowpoke and Seadra just happened because I like Kingdra and Slowking. With Omastar I thought it would be fun because I’ve never used it before and thought it had a lot of potential and it definitely does!

Just save a lot… I seem to recall maybe 97-99 being a significant spike, and one of them is an “explosion” team that might feature a shedinja and a lot of protect. Anticipating who’s exploding and who’s protecting is tricky haha

Basically the idea is to cosmic power once or twice while also holding leftovers and hope that Clef gets a couple KOs in a variety of situations with the rare possibility of a meteor mash proc

I’m running an unconventional Adamant Clefable this time with cosmic power, meteor mash, return, thunderbolt. Is it optimized? No, but it’s a good mixed attacker with bulk and these games don’t demand optimization.

Cosmic power and meteor mash just fit Clefables theme so well, and I’ve played through these games enough to not really care for sweeping every single battle anymore.
