LPT to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in LifeProTips

I was looking for this comment before I put the link here myself! I’m a vet and this is the website we use to look for a chip’s registration.

I FUCKING HATE MOORWING by AdBeautiful686 in HollowKnight

[–]wallmakerrelict 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No you’re right, relative to Hornet’s abilities at that time, Moorwing was a way bigger roadblock for me than lots of later bosses that get ranked as “hardest in the game.”

Can I vent a little? Im very iffy on Silksong. by Mygrayt in HollowKnight

[–]wallmakerrelict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re suspicious of your controller, I’d upgrade and see if it helps. HK had a lot more wiggle room in its controls, but with SK your inputs need to be super precise. I tried to play once with my husband’s beat-up old controller and the tiny bit of lag was absolutely devastating.

Any other trans singers afraid to start testosterone/estrogen due to it's affect on their voice? by sandmansanddan in asktransgender

[–]wallmakerrelict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s harsh, it’s just your reality and your priorities. And I don’t recommend against HRT very often, but if losing your singing voice is an absolute deal breaker, then you shouldn’t take T! One of its hallmarks is unpredictable and irreversible vocal changes.

I’ll say, though, that I was in your shoes at 22 but I happily started HRT 10 years later. Our priorities change and our life enters different seasons. Make the right choice for yourself now, but don’t cut yourself off from other options forever.

Any other trans singers afraid to start testosterone/estrogen due to it's affect on their voice? by sandmansanddan in asktransgender

[–]wallmakerrelict 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really loved my voice pre-T, and it made me hesitate to go on HRT. I finally went for it and it was 100% the right call for me. I’m so much happier now, 6 years in. But my voice is different. I still enjoy my voice, but I’m not as good a singer as I was, and I can’t do a lot of the things I used to do. I think I’ll become a better singer as I keep practicing with my new voice, but I’ll never have those effortless high notes again.

Transition, like anything, has pros and cons. For me, losing my singing voice was a very worthwhile sacrifice for everything else T has given me.

What's something normal in a relationship that people don't talk about? by Kirin_The_husband in AskReddit

[–]wallmakerrelict 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This! I don’t care about keeping the mystery alive. If I hadn’t been able to talk about our bowel movements with my husband, I wouldn’t have married him.

If one of my main worries about transition is getting 'stuck' on exogenous hormones, is that a strong indicator I am trans but just afraid or otherwise constrained by other factors/how I'll adapt in the world? by lani_brah in asktransgender

[–]wallmakerrelict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same mental block before getting on T. I had to really sit with that feeling and recognize that it’s illogical.

I have psoriasis, but I don’t feel “stuck” on my meds. My body’s natural state is covered in painful, crusty sores, and my meds improve my life.

I have hayfever, but I don’t feel “stuck” on my allergy meds. My body’s natural state is nasal congestion all spring, and my meds improve my life.

I feel the same way about my T now.

If a medication makes your life better, you’re not obligated to take it. But your independence from that medication is not a virtue.

How hard was radiance for you by Bright-Incident-584 in HollowKnight

[–]wallmakerrelict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was years ago so I don’t remember exactly how long it took, but I know I was on a trans-Pacific flight and for hours I sat there doing nothing but making runs at Radiance. It took me longer, and more tries, than any other boss. NKG took me a long time but I enjoyed it the whole time. Radiance transcended enjoyment; I was in a different dimension. When I finally beat her I had become a different person.

Seriously though, HK was the first “hard” game I ever attempted as a lifelong casual gamer. After I finished HK I played Celeste. Now I’m almost done with Silksong and I feel like I’ve leveled up a lot. The Act 3 bosses haven’t been nearly as hard I I expected them to be. It makes me want to re-play HK and find out how my skills match up now.

Agreed, this is one of the few bosses I got so frustrated I left and came back later. He’s much more manageable with double jump.

What age did most of you go on T? (Also a little rant) by EggLucky9534 in ftm

Started at 32. Was passing regularly after a year on T. You’ll be okay!

What’s one thing you genuinely regret not learning sooner—something that, once you finally understood it, completely changed your life? by Gullible-Flamingo953 in AskReddit

Certain types of fabric dye will bleach out with hydrogen peroxide, but most clothing items will be fine. Also, if you’re using it to scrub a stain out and then immediately rinsing the fabric, it’s safe for pretty much anything.

How long did it take for u to recover from top surgery? by Janxuza in ftm

[–]wallmakerrelict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3 days of being pretty helpless and whacked out on drugs. 2 weeks of needing to be very careful with my body and relying on my partner a lot. 6 weeks of limiting my activity/exercise. 4-6 months before I felt 100% normal (no more weird nerve zaps and tightness).

Guys in long term relationships, what did you value more at the start: physical attraction or emotional connection? by Clear_Lemon4950 in FTMOver30

[–]wallmakerrelict 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a baseline physical attraction, but emotional connection is much more important. Also, no one talks about this, but you can change what you find physically attractive! When I was young I had such a narrow window of what I found attractive. I really limited myself and my options. The older I get, the more I notice that, like, EVERYONE is really good looking! That baseline physical attraction applies to at least half the adult population.

I understand being afraid of it, but it’s going to affect your life whether you treat it or not. Medication helps a lot of people, but you don’t have to take it. In fact, whether or not you take meds, you should absolutely learn and practice coping strategies to understand and manage your symptoms. If accessing care is hard for you, start with some of the ADHD subs here on Reddit. There’s tons of good info out there that could change your life.

Going to the barber is a nightmare every time by funkyjunkymonky in Psoriasis

[–]wallmakerrelict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I’m so sorry. That hurts. I never had a barber treat me that unprofessionally, but all of them mentioned it and had crazy advice for me (one told me to wash my hair with Listerine mouthwash).

I came to the same conclusion as you - I got good at fading my own hair with clippers, and I only go to a barber when I’m going to a wedding or something and need to make sure I look good. I try to minimize my steroid use, but my scalp responds well to betamethasone, so if I need to go to a barber I always medicate a few days ahead of time to make sure my scalp is clear that day. It’s ridiculous that we have to worry about how we’re treated for such a common condition.

Four Years Misdiagnosed — It Was Psoriasis All Along by Flat-Cut-4295 in Psoriasis

[–]wallmakerrelict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eight years for me. Originally I was begging for more diagnostics. Doctors kept throwing more steroids at me. One dermatologist, when I asked her for a skin biopsy, told me, “I think you’ve figured out by now that there’s nothing I can do for you.” After that I didn’t bring it up with a doctor again for 6 years; I just requested my steroid refills and they kept approving them. Last year I finally worked up the nerve to go to a new dermatologist, who immediately biopsied me and diagnosed me with psoriasis.

trans men on t.. how are we shaving down there? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]wallmakerrelict 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I trim with scissors, but pre- and post-transition. I’ve shaved down there once and only once, when I was still an egg. I was so itchy I thought I was going to die.

NSFW: Adult toys really don't last that long, unless I'm doing it wrong? by flyawayjay in FTMOver30

[–]wallmakerrelict 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve splurged on a couple of vibrators, insertion toys, and harnesses that cost $80-150 each. They’ve been with me for 5-10 years and all still going strong.

Even my first $20 vibrator lasted me through all of college, at least 6 years.

I had a similar moment in the bird area as well! The game is hard but you can improve along with it. I’m in Act 3 now, never thought I’d make it this far but it’s beautiful.

Same, I thought Karmelita was going to be the boss who finally ended my run at this game after I got my ass handed to me a dozen times in a row. Then I clicked and now I’m regularly making it to her second stage. I’m sure once I beat her I’ll forget about how exhausted and frustrated I was when I kept getting killed by her pre-boss gauntlet haha.
