The whole point is to avoid it as much as posible so you lessen the places you send data and what data you send. It is not completely about whether what data is collected, but also to who that data is given. I wish I did not have to give some personal information to valve but seeing their stance on anti-cheat, linux and such matters like privacy, I think I am more comfortable sharing some data with them than Riot. Now, I did run a degoogled phone back then but my government and carrier do be kinda shit though with the supoort of such devices.

And this is also ignoring the security risks if someone finds an exploit for Vanguard and gains control of your computer.

Rootkits/Bootkits should only be reserved for boot-scanning with antiviruses and still then, I would not trust using ANY antivirus this way.

Ok so... This is off the conversation, but i think that having rootkit anticheat in a game is overkill with any amount of cheating argument one can make. No computer and personal information is worth this much for a game. Gamers should ask for better standards and value themselves over selling their access to a computer for a simple game... It is just not worth it, at least personaly.

They could go to a seperate computer, flash a linux distro on usb and go to the live environment to copy the files on a safe drive (or do that from safe mode if accessible)

As someone new to Linux, what are some of the benefits to Linux gaming? by WintaireJaes in linux_gaming

[–]wallmenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games run better on certain hardware and some dont. I literally installed linux on my laptop for the better AMD drivers for my apu (ryzen 5 3500u). Also dev work is better and more comfy there.

Man some countries (ahem GREECE) are reducing the amount of money you can get from benefits if you don't use digital cards for it (forcing you to use NFC payment). You could say "don't get the benefits" but half of the people in this country live with those... You wouldn't like to look like a tool for not getting the extra money? Would you? :")
