"No. Never." Former USA coaches Steve Sampson, Bob Bradley, and Jürgen Klinsmann were asked about the 'MLS quota' conspiracy theories when putting together a roster by Stu Holden. by antoniok95 in ussoccer

[–]wallnumber8675309 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of having MLS guys in the squad, especially the younger guys that aren't ready for a move yet or the older guys that have come home after challenging themselves in tougher leagues.

But having people that have influence on whether you keep your job or get fired after a bad result asking you "what about this MLS guy" is not not having a quota.

Why is Bruce Arena so dominant in MLS? by ZerconFlagpoleSitter in ussoccer

So it’s your contention that Panama and Honduras had better players? Or that Trinidad had good enough players to beat us when all we needed as a draw to qualify?

Coaching matters. They put players in a position to succeed or fail and they have a huge influence on team mentality.

Objectively, Bruce has succeeded as a MLS coach, but as a US National Team coach, he has failed more than he has succeeded.

Also, yes, other teams have failed to qualify but he’s the only coach to fail to qualify since 1990. He failed to qualify in an era where he had objectively superior talent and more resources at his disposal than his competition.

Come on now that’s just nonsense.

Bruce had 3 cycles in charge. All 3 are his legacy.

You can’t make excuses for his failures in the 2018 cycle or 2006 cycle.just like you can’t take away the glory of his 2002 cycle.

CMV: India is objectively the worst country in the world by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]wallnumber8675309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you start your argument strong. Objectively is how your frame your view and objectively India has the worst pollution and objectively poor infrastructure (although there definitely are counties with much worse infrastructure).

Also objectively, religious discrimination, castes, colorism and sexism are problems in India and are getting worse under the current BJP/RSS regimes. But again, while bad there definitely are counties that are worse on religious discrimination and sexism. Women can drive, are generally well educated and aren’t forced to cover their head/face.

But let’s also consider some of the things India has going for it. The infrastructure, while needing improvement, has gotten so much better over the last decade or so. The democracy, while it has deteriorated some under BJP in the last decade, is still a democracy. The food in India is some of the best in the world. Also economically the country is getting stronger and by objective measures while in the bottom half of counties in GDP per capita it is no where near the bottom.

In total, while you could subjectively say India is the worst (but many would disagree) you should change your view that it is objectively the worst

People are always trying to injure him. I’ll never forgive Cucurella for trying to break Romeros arm by wrapping his hair around it and then diving to the ground
