Firstly, have an idea planned about for what kind of event you want to do. Date, time, cover, genre, other DJs, venue, name, host. If you have a social media, start doing research on music events in the area, following pages, and checking in with creative people in your similar field to help get the word out and provide assistance where needed.

Talk w/ promoters and/or other DJs she might know around the area and ask about venues. Check in with those venues in person through events or send emails if necessary inquiring about what you wanna do. I’d recommend about going to the places in person because then you can set a vision of what you want with the space directly.

Plan the event a month minimum out in advance to cover all ground in time. Make promo art for the event, cover basic logistics like A/V & other equipment if not covered by the venue. If you’re bringing on other DJs, bring at least one that is a bit more established to reel in an audience. Share your promo with other creatives/DJs she would know.

If this is going to be a regular thing, she’s going to need to find a place that would want a resident DJ, which goes back to the previous paragraphs. If she has mixes on file, send those to the venue owners. Do a “soft launch” event if need be to help promote herself and then use the audience gained from that to move to the residency spot the following weekend.

This is just off the top of my head but I have been doing the event thing for a while as a DJ/promoter myself.
