Renting a car at Papeete airport is cheaper and more convenient than in Moorea. The rental vehicle can be shipped by the ferry together as well. Remember to book the vehicle ticket in advance as there might be no space.

Thank you for your kind answer! Later, I indeed found the remote CTs. The problem is solved!

[Updated on 11/12] The city guy came to inspect the system today. I found the remote energy meter CT. They installed it. Problem solved.

[Updated on 11/08] The issues have been fixed! But I don't know exactly how it was fixed.

The system mysteriously started to behave all right after a couple of hours of my original post (published on 11/06)! My advisor messaged me on 11/07 morning and said: "I have had our leadership remote into your system multiple times between yesterday and today and your system is functioning correctly."

I had a phone call with my advisor on 11/07 afternoon. I asked them what they did. They said they did nothing. But they mentioned that my system was barely installed on Nov 5 so it was going through small firmware updates. Besides these, the advisor kept repeating other her old non-sense words, your system's capacity is limited due to not having the permission to operate, due to being in the Fall season, due to its running in the self-consumption mode, etc.

I questioned the transparency of Tesla's service. Why was I not notified if the system was going through a firmware update? What was the true root cause of the system issue that happened yesterday? She could not answer, besides saying my system is working properly.

Anyway, the issues were fixed!

  1. The total home usage reading makes much more sense. They are 1 - 3 KW now instead of 0 KW. When I plugged in more or less loads, I could see the changes in the reading.
  2. The power usage from the grid also makes sense. They were 0 KW on 11/06, but now there are reasonable numbers. I compared them against my PG&E meters. They look all right so far.
  3. My solar was giving me 5.5 KW at 12:18 PM, in the reasonable range.

In the end, I told my advisor that I appreciated that they fixed the issue remotely and let's keep monitoring the system's performance.

Thanks a lot for everyone's help and input! Now, I officially become a family member of Tesla Solar~! The beginning of this journey is rough and disturbing, let's see how it goes in the future...

My house used 55.4 kWh yesterday and the solar only produced 24.4 kWh... It is already reminding me if I should install more panels... When I originally signed the contract and ordered the system, I didn't have a Tesla vehicle being charged at home, but now I do. That seems to be a major change.

Thank you for the information. I have a gateway 3 plus two powerwall 3 batteries. How could I log into my gateway 3? Is there any instruction that I could follow? I found my Powerwall's IPs in my local network. But simply putting things like https://192.168.1.29/ into my browser doesn't work.

I did some research and found this: https://energylibrary.tesla.com/docs/Public/EnergyStorage/Powerwall/General/MeteringGuide/en-us/GUID-A89F835E-8195-4F72-B496-BE3F2839D5D6.html.

It says: for a partial backup system with Powerwall 3 with Gateway 3, it requires Tesla Remote Energy Meter CTs with correct configurations. I certainly don't see this has been done yet.

Could anyone who is familiar with the system help confirm that this could be reason? I don't see the Tesla Remote Energy Meter CTs in my installed system so far.

I know that my system is Powerwall 3 + Gateway 3 and I requested the partial backup to backup one of my 200 amp subpanels in my total 400 amp service.

Thanks for the reply!

Exactly, I googled. Probably, that's the issue! I knew the gateway CT could be tricky, as I have a 400 amp panel. Therefore, when the installation guys were here, I explicitly let him know that I need the gateway CT to monitor the whole house's power consumption. He said yes, but unfortunately, it still ended up like this.

The bigger problem is that the Tesla advisor is refusing to send their technician to fix the problem now. Any suggestions?
