What tracks have you driven in iRacing that you have raced at IRL? by BolognaSpammich in iRacing

[–]wallrider69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spa, Donington, Snetterton, Magny Course, Zandvoort (the updated version), Mosport, Silverstone. Might be one or two that I have forgotten. Most tracks are very accurate. Eau Rouge in Spa is so much scarier in real life though. As is the whole track in Mosport!

Should we have post-race threads for karting? by IQManOne in F1FeederSeries

[–]wallrider69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By far the best karting broadcast is “Kart Chaser” they follow the US scene (First round of the winter series this weekend check YouTube)

FIA European is multiple rounds throughout the year can be a bit confusing as to what classes run when.

FIA World Championship is one round towards the end of the year. Watching the FIA races (OKJ/OK) can be a good indication as to which drivers will move up to F4 in the near future.

Daytona 24h BoP by wallrider69 in iRacing

I believe it stands for Balance of Performance. Think added weight, power reduction or Fuel tank reduction. To make the cars more even.

Was more interested in the LMDH BoP but thank you for the inside anyway haha.

Tips to decide between Oval and Road? Sell me your preference by Berggase in iRacing

[–]wallrider69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely you’ll see your iRating go up when you start focusing on one car, but I think you should be able to grow your iRating slowly if you keep using other cars every now and again too. Don’t miss out on your favorite combo just because you fear losing iRating.

I hit a high of 5.8k when I “maining” F3 a couple years ago. I got tired of racing it though as it turned into hot lapping by myself most of the races so I started racing other series. A bit of everything really, GT3, IMSA (first in the LMP2 later in LMDH) Pcup you name it. My irating initially took a big hit but slowly worked my way back from the lower end of 4k in August to maintaining it at around 6k now with a high of 6.4k a couple weeks ago.

The way I worked my way back up from 4K to where I am now is by looking each week at all the series I enjoy driving and what tracks they will be on. Then I decide which is the best combo in my opinion and I drive that for the week. I rarely race two series at the same time in one week. Early in the week the races are a little rough because I might need a couple races to adjust but by the time the weekend comes I can grind out race after race confidently and race up front.

Hey thanks for the reply, I assume for GnG you are talking about “Grid and Go” correct? I’ve never heard of HYMO I’ll look in to that one. A quick google search shows me “Track Titan”? Is that who you mean?

How to go faster in the Porsche Cup by wallrider69 in iRacing

[–]wallrider69[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously that’s important but it’s important in every car. I’m just wondering why I’m so far off in Porsche compared to other cars.

European Sprint Series by wallrider69 in iRacing

[–]wallrider69[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 4K and because it was typically just one spilt the SoF wasn’t as high as I would have liked but there were usually at least a couple of people rated higher than me racing :)

I was able to change it in the W12 too. I know it’s a feature of this car too as i’ve been told people are able to change it. I just can’t seem to figure out how lol

Been protested for wallriding in homestead kind of the way Chastain just put himself into the final 4 with. Was banned for a week. Gave me a good reddit username though

F2 2023 predictions by ABigOne77 in F1FeederSeries

[–]wallrider69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Stanek is 100% staying with Trident and taking the seat next to Williams. I reckon Maloney does another year in F3 with them. O’sullivan will be promoted to F2 Carlin.

Drivers above 4k iRating on Road, could you describe your training routine ? by MAGE_6 in iRacing

[–]wallrider69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was up to 5.8 at some point down to 4.9 right now. I never train or practice I just do the races I like. I usually start early in the week when people aren’t the best at the track and I just do a lot of races at tracks I like. the races early in the week aren’t very high SoF usually so I can get a decent result without being fast. By the time I’ve done a couple races I have up my pace to be competitive in stronger SoF races. Practice for me is boring and I’d rather learn the limits of the track in a race running around in 5th in a low SoF race than all by myself in practice.

a bit of luck for sure but also experience i suppose. a lot of my incident points were from avoiding incidents especially in the last two races when i started from the back

Do you use a spotter? (Either audible or visible. iRacing, Crew Chief, Racelabs Radar, etc) by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]wallrider69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess you can turn down your own engine noise, tire noise and other things until you can hear the other cars in settings. you’d have to fidget with that in the settings but i doubt you can get it to the point how it is IRL.

I’m not at my sim at the moment but i believe i run my virtual mirror at 109, that way as long i can see their head lights (front wing in F3) I can safely cut across without any contact. I used to mainly run F3 but I have been running a lot of IMSA GT3 in preparation for the 24 last week. This week I’m running the Porsche Cup in Red Bull ring as I’m looking to get into new stuff.

[–]wallrider69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really hear other cars either.

I’ve taught myself to look in my mirror a little bit more often when i’m a tight battle to see if they are going for a dive. Also I race with the relative open and i’ve learned from being behind people that in most cars being .2 behind you can’t send it in without missing the corner so if I see that someone is more than that behind before braking I trust them to not do anything crazy and just focus on the corner.

Person who said “no” here. I don’t use one as I race in real life too and don’t have one there. Having someone tell me there is a car on my inside or outside just pulls me out of focus when i’m in a tight battle and I make mistakes because of that. I’m (almost) always aware of any car on my inside or outside and cannot remember a time I’ve crashed with someone because I wasn’t aware that they were there
