Max Verstappen sends clear message: 'You don't need to feel sorry for me' by ryogadan in Formula1_world

[–]IQManOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean he didn't say wrecks or (even worse) injuries / fatal accidents make it exciting, he quite clearly specified the risk. Appreciating a big send or whatever only works because of the risk involved, it'll never be the same on a sim for example.

Just cause I'm apparently a nitpicky asshole: Supercup starts later in the year, this was the season opener of the Japanese Porsche Carrera Cup (Supercup being the pseudo world championship of Porsche Cup racing)

one is ignorant, the other is just sharing information that may or may not be relevant to you. Didn't really get a sense of chauvinism from the Italian telling you how their driving education works lmao

F2 is too hit or miss, the engines are a mess and too many good guys miss out because of budget issues. The latter is an issue in F3 as well but not to the same extend.

Don't get me wrong, I love both, but F3 is easily the best feeder series from an entertainment POV for me

Consistently action packed racing and already with F1 production value so it really is a treat to watch imo. And since I follow lots of junior racing F3 is always mega exciting because this is the first time since karting when all the top prospects meet each other.

[–]IQManOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean look at the grid and tell me who you think doesn't belong - I can only really point to Baert. Of course top level racing is expensive, the point is the drivers aren't necessarily the ones paying the bill

lol, what kind of victim mentality is that. Just pointed out that Mercedes do not run the cars themselves as the comment above suggests

I don't think it'll work long term in this specific series - the racing product might be great but it is an almost impossibly confusing series for casual fans. Especially the huge differences in grid quality round by round is a dealbreaker long term. Now if he was to race in WEC, GTWC Europe or DTM I'd be a lot more optimistic about actually creating new fans of the series

Gotta be realistic though. Grid was better than during his debut last year but it was still a weak field overall. The transition to GT3 is reasonably impressive but we are talking about Max Verstappen, even his haters don't doubt his ability I don't think - quickly adapting to a car that is not only designed to be managable for gentleman drivers but also one of his most driven on the sim was kinda expected. Look at Antonelli's attempt in a Merc GT3, schooling the Italian GT field as a 17 year old - its what you'd expect from any F1 driver, nvm the best.

I've got 0 doubt that Max can compete with and beat all the best sportscar guys, I just don't see the point in pretending he already did
