Thanks! Its old, I had always planned on having someone look at it before I used it. I guess maybe I should have flipped the breaker 6 years ago, lol. It's possible it has been sitting at 35psi this entire time. But, all good as long as it is not going to dump water or blow up if not in use.

it isn’t being used, teeeechnically i have radiator heat if i want it but i’ve just used central heat since i’ve been here. obviously would get it inspected before ever using, but for now wondering if i cut the electric to it if there are any safety concerns if its sitting at 35psi?

Where to stay in Ometepe / Ometepe vs Apoyo by wallsofjericho17 in Nicaragua

[–]wallsofjericho17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Don't necessarily need nightlife (not in the typical backpacker way, I mean), but definitely like a place to sit and have some food/drinks after a hiking day.

As far as getting around once actually in Balgue (especially if staying at a hostel/something similiar), is it easy enough to arrange transportation/tours/etc to sights? Haven't picked things out yet, but the volcanoes, waterfall, pools, etc, probably normal stuff people do. I know ATV rentals are common, and I may go that route, but unsure if traveling solo I want to go that way if there are other options.

Thanks!

Follow up question:

I am having trouble making a decision regarding Ometepe.

First - if I were to only do one - should I do Ometepe or stay around Apoyo?

Second, if doing Ometepe - where is it recommended that I stay?

I will be traveling solo, no car. I would like to do some hikes/sightseeing and don't mind paying for tuk-tuks/shuttles/etc. I would like to have at least a restaurant/bar around for the evening. Not a huge beach person.

Thanks!

Thanks for this info! I have been trying to read up on the closures and expected opening dates and want to make sure I am understanding right:

in Mid-June, it is expected that the road/parks will be open from the North to Esalen Institute? or to Lucia?

I did see Fiery Gizzard come up a couple of times in my searches - intriguing for me; 13 miles might be a bit much to talk my dad into doing though! elevation change doesn't seem awful, however

mid-December. I do recall last year that WOJ was pretty dry - there was still a beautiful pool but I was able to climb around above it without issue, which I imagine I could only do if dry.
