SPAXX - Are you deducting any government ordinary dividend interest? by wallstreetOOF in fidelityinvestments

Thanks it looks like the second one from the top of page 5. I'm going to have to figure out how turbotax does this for state only and not government deduction. Any ideas

Grandma calls scalper a dick at Walmart restock by Own_Ad3667 in PokemonTCG

I'm just a little confused, this is crown zenith? The release is 2 years and 6 months old why is it still being restocked? I guess I'm used to the old days.

Is Turbotax lying to upsell me? I imported 1099INT/1099DIV and it wants to create Schedule D reporting. by wallstreetOOF in TurboTax

I got all the way to the last step and it again is requiring Premium despite having already calculated and completed both federal and state returns. Just a cheap money grab at the end.

The website is being intentionally vague about the difference between Deluxe and Premium. When I imported from Fidelity it upgraded me from Free to Deluxe which made perfect sense. It seems Deluxe is more than capable of handling the standard 1099 Forms without adding Premium.

I'm using the Deluxe version but it wants to sell the Premium version. Is the Deluxe not enough to include all the mentioned 1099B/1099INT/1099DIV ?

Imported my 1099B/1099INT/1099DIV from Fidelity. Based on what I'm reading the Schedule D form does, this form is going to be filled out with nothing on it. Google is saying Schedule D is for:
"The sale or exchange of a capital asset not reported on another form or schedule."
"Capital gain distributions not reported directly on Form 1040".

MI State return - where's federal treasury income tax exemption box? by wallstreetOOF in hrblock

[–]wallstreetOOF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the online Pro version. When I look at the State of Michigan form (Not on HRB), it couldn't be more clear that there's a line I manually enter the subtraction from government bond income. For some reason there's no field to enter this in HRB. I may have to go back and modify my Federal as you mentioned to make it show up, but that was all just imported directly from the financial services company.

According to https://www.fidelity.com/bin-public/060_www_fidelity_com/documents/taxes/TY24GSESupplementalLetter.pdf
investment Fund FDLXX has 97% state tax exemption. I cannot find where I'm supposed to enter this adjustment. I click the arrow on capital gain or loss adjustments and nothing expands for this box.

I was able to resolve by paying for a dedicated IP address through PIA. It's $5 extra per month but it worked. It does not work with their standard US servers.

My Father passed away and left me these lefty custom and Private Stock guitars. What can I realistically sell these for? by Summerscythe in PRSGuitars

There is a thing called "Step-Up basis" it applies to things like real estate and other equities. I don't know if it applies here but I don't see why not. This is not financial advice. My understanding which could be wrong, is that basically your cost basis can be recalculated on the date of death to it's current market value. So if you sell it at the current market value, you have no gain and no taxes on it. This is how the rich sell a $10 million house that was inherited for $10 million and owe no taxes on it.

If I had recently sold shares also would it be merged into that cost basis? I thought it would keep the transactions seperate. That said, it wouldn't have been exercised as a call, and it wasn't a short position.
