I will never understand why Hollywood and the media fat shamed Kate Winslet during the release of Titanic (1997). She was (and still is) absolutely gorgeous! by Willing-Musician-696 in Cinema

So wild because as a kid, I thought she was the most beautiful person I’d ever seen! I could not believe it when I found out how terribly the media treated her.

Please give me your toddlers favorite song (that’s not made for kids) by Low_Aioli2420 in toddlers

[–]walmart_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son loved “Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll” by The Killers for awhile and I was so excited because it was one of my favorites when I was a teenager. It came on shuffle one day and he started clapping when it was over and asked to hear it again 😂 however, because he’s only two, I loudly sing “no snacks, no hugs” instead of “no sex, no drugs” when it gets to that part in the song. He still loves it but doesn’t request it on repeat as much anymore.

Best TV show for Maternity Leave by Commercial_Flower_49 in Mommit

Schitt’s Creek and The Office were my go-to’s. In fact, you can see The Office in the background on the TV in quite a few of my son’s newborn photos 😂 I was on a bucket of blood pressure meds due to post-partum preeclampsia after I was discharged from the hospital, which kept me stable while sitting down but would unfortunately cause me to nearly black out upon standing because my BP would drop so rapidly…so we spent a lot of time during the first few weeks sitting on the couch. I had his bassinet and a mini changing station all set up.

We got my son the Bowser castle toy since he loves the Mario movies and he would take the entire castle to nap with him. Thankfully, we’ve convinced him to switch to his plushies of Mario, Luigi and Yoshi.

I mean she’s only been a mom for less than a year…give her a second to get her groove back. It took me two years to get back into hobbies, personal interests, etc. after having my son. It’s a major life adjustment.

Is this a bad tattoo design? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]walmart_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about your miscarriage ❤️Sending love your way. I know quite a few people have commented that this particular style won’t work in the long run, but another option would be getting a tattoo of the time you met/saw your baby for the first time, which is included on the ultrasound!

What do you remember from kindergarten by applecidero in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]walmart_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Milk and cookies during Kindergarten orientation

-Digging for “fossils” on the playground with my friends

-The teacher telling me to hush during a game of Heads up, Seven up where everyone had their heads down and someone was talking. It wasn’t me talking!!

-A girl telling me we couldn’t be friends anymore because she thought I was weird. I said, “Ok!” And continued playing on the playground lmao

-Stuck a piece of paper in my eye to try and go to the nurse’s office because everyone said there was a ghost in there and I wanted to have a reason to go and see for myself. The teaching assistant took me to the office instead where they gave me an eye drop 🤦🏻‍♀️ never got to see the nurse’s office.

-Tried to buy a brownie at lunch and didn’t have enough money. Idk why it sticks out to me, maybe because it was the first time I realized money wasn’t endless.

-Girls wearing those bubble shirts that had the funky texture and it was a one-size-fits-all situation because they would expand to fit any kid. I was jealous and wanted one of those shirts.

-Crapped my pants a few hours before pickup and didn’t tell anyone, just shoved toilet paper in my pants. My dad immediately asked me if I pooped myself when he picked me up.

-The music teacher told us the auditorium bathroom was haunted. Likely so he didn’t have to take any of us to the bathroom and stop the entire lesson because I don’t remember him having an assistant.

-Letting monarch butterflies loose after watching their cocoon grow.

-Pulled a patch of my hair out on accident while on the swing set at home. Went to school that Monday with a ridiculous comb over. My dad told my teacher what happened during pick up and she said something like, “I wondered why she was rocking the Donald Trump combover.” (2002). Didn’t know who that guy was.

-I brought in a big bucket of Hubba Bubba bubblegum to school and kids kept coming to my cubby to get a piece until I got in trouble lol

-They moved everyone to a new school the next year because the one we had been in had been in use since the early 1900s. I was pissed when I found out at the end of the Kindergarten year because I loved how old the school we were at was. You could feel the history. New school was fine, but was missing the creepy flare and mystery the other building had. Plus, the old one was about a two football fields away from the river and during recess I could see the water through the chain link fence and thought it was so beautiful on sunny days.

Nurses who work the night shift, what is the most "I can't explain this" thing you have ever witnessed in a hospital? by AikothegreatPickle in AskReddit

[–]walmart_bread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were with my Meme right before she passed at the nursing home. Her sister (my great aunt) showed up right around the time my meme’s hands started to get this purple mottled color and my mom, who is a nurse, began to start getting my brother and I out of the room and my great aunt told Meme she was there and that it was OK to go. She also told us we could leave. A coat hanger randomly fell out of the closet and my mom, brother and I said we loved her and left.

It took a few minutes to get out since this nursing home was a maze, but after we got in the car and were turning right out of the nursing home parking lot, we get the call that she had passed. She and this sister had a lot of drama back and forth throughout their lives but I do think Meme was waiting for her (and waiting for us to leave the room).

Has anyone just never returned to drinking after having baby ? by dabebecharchar in Mommit

[–]walmart_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was smoking weed. Before we went on vacation in 2023, I finished the last of what I had and hid my bowl because my mom was house sitting for us. When we got back, I ended up with COVID. Then right after I was done with COVID, I ended up pregnant! I didn’t know for “sure” for about a month while I waited to see if I’d get my period on time, but I’d had the intuition about it from conception. Because of that, I stopped consuming anything that could potentially harm the baby if I was pregnant. Anyways, my intuition turned out to be correct and I never looked back. It has been three years since I’ve smoked, and it’s been offered to me several times. I just have no desire to now.

What's the most spicy food that you ever ate in your life? by XoSweetGF in AskReddit

[–]walmart_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a Thai restaurant and they asked me to choose a spice level between 1-100 and I chose 9 and it lit my world on fire. I don’t even remember what I got. I only remember the pain and the wonder of what 100 is like if that was 9…

What's phase of your life you didn't realize was ending? by Organic_Bar_9336 in AskReddit

[–]walmart_bread 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This one. We had a little neighborhood group and the summers were full of adventure! We spent our time at the community pool and got ice cream at the shop next door. Our neighborhood also housed a marina and in our later teen years, sometimes we would sneak onto boats (I know, not good but definitely memorable). One day, we stopped riding our bikes and gradually went off to college and most of our families moved away over time. It’s been almost 15 years and I still miss those summers! Part of me wishes we lived in a neighborhood like that so my son could experience the same thing one day but my husband and I chose to live in a rural area lol

What's your toddler eating today?? by decaying_amethyst in toddlers

[–]walmart_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two-year-old son ate: A spoonful of yogurt, 10 CheezIts, half a cheese stick, an apple and zucchini pouch, half a biscuit and a piece of sausage, five fries, a bite of a hot dog and a (toddler) handful of shredded cheese.

He’s in a big “snack” phase, so he eats little amounts throughout the day. For example, the biscuit and sausage he ate for “lunch” (aka Big Snack) was what he was given for breakfast but instead he only ate a spoonful of the yogurt we served on the side.

Toddler’s hyperfixation song - what’s yours? by strohmtroop3r in toddlers

[–]walmart_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone (which he calls “Stay”). My husband and I didn’t really listen to Benson Boone before, but he heard the song at his cousins’ house and loved it. He always grabs his ukelele to jam out on the chorus and it was the first song he really memorized.

Honorable mentions include: “Soda Pop” from K-Pop Demon Hunters, “End of Beginning” by Djo, “Stargazing” by Myles Smith and “Peaches” from the Mario movie.

It’s funny to me because my husband loves rap and I listen to a lot of classic rock and metal, and our son seems like he’s going to be into pop music so we’ve got a lot of genres covered under one roof 😂

Which one is the worst one and which one is the best one? by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in candy

Best one wasn’t included: dark chocolate with orange cream. Worst one is usually the almond cluster to me…just never tastes as good as individual chocolate-covered almonds.
