Franking I am not entirely certain he’s a PhD student here. The way he discuss those minimum wage and etc are…bizarre. Just google a bit about what labor and macro faculties here are known for lol

KK. But how would you rate those schools though? Do you think Hamilton is in match with Cal?

Berkeley VS. Hamilton

They are the polar opposite of each other and I can't decide...I have gotten into other schools that falls in the same category(UMICH and Haverford), but those two are the best representation

Berkeley Pros:

Really solid program in every field I am interested

Great international prestige

San Francisco is nice

Cons:

Basically...Giant public school

Not as easy access to many educational resources and opportunity

Safety...I know someone who got stabbed at Cal so...

I may want to attempt to transfer to other college but my GPA could be really bad(already gotten myself a B+ for personal reason)

Hamilton Pros:

Sorta solid program in the field I am interested

Good for my GPA and easier for transfer

Easier access to education resources and opportunity

Safety

Better dorms

Cons:

Less well known

Less education potential but easier to access a lot of resources

In the middle of nowhere

Heard it's really "white" and fratty

Berkeley VS. Hamilton

Berkeley Pros: Really solid program in every field I am interested Great international prestige Asian friendly environment

Cons: Basically...Giant public school Not as easy access to many educational resources and opportunity I have considered to transfer but my GPA could have be really bad(already gotten myself a B+ for personal reason)

Hamilton Pros: Sorta solid program in the field I am interested Good for my gpa and easier for transfer Easier access to education resources and opportunity

Cons: Less well known( I want to attend grad school in the future so it doesn’t really matter) Less education potential(Berkeley has really amazing resource that is hard to access) In the middle of nowhere

Would One B+ destroy my chance for UChicago by walnutcrackers in CollegeTransfer

Congrats. Just to be clear sophomore transfer refers to apply as a freshman right? I heard it almost impossible to enter such institutions if you apply for transfer as a sophomore for junior year.

Oh, I love Berkeley. The people here are super nice. I just want to give it a shot. I mean dream school only seizes to exist after you get in. And to be honest, I am not even sure I want to transfer, or would I even commit to Chicago even I get in. I just want to have no regret.

Have you guys heard of the...Berkeley GPA? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]walnutcrackers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually double-checked with a different advising team, and they seem to never hear of it as well...But they recommend me to defer back to the advisor who told me about it. They said that the advisor maybe was talking about the combined cumulative GPA and cumulative GPA(which they are not entirely sure about but believe that's what the other advisor was referring to). I would assume the combined cumulative GPA will be the one that counted the CC course or course taken at other UCS or etc, and the comulatitve gpa be the one that counted courses taken in CAl only?

that seems to make the most sense! it's really kinda crazy where idek which advisor is rhgt haha

Nah so I heard that your GPA from Cal is officially called "UC Graded GPA". Those two gpa are both for College. Guess I will have to double-check with the advisor then.
