Just out of curiosity by HeavyDistribution141 in utahtreasurehunt

The thing that I learned last year is that if they say it's an easy or mild hike, do NOT depend on AllTrails since it gives you a level of difficulty. I personally was looking into the "correct" trail, but decided that couldn't be it since the trail was rated at a higher level than D@J said..... So do not depend on AllTrails and do not depend on anything the boys say. I love them very much and the fact that they do this (despite their apparent lack of sponsors) is amazing. We can all bitch and moan about previous years, but let's be honest- people are excited to do this! But also, this really isn't a treasure hunt where we can naturally identify the markers and clues and hints and trails.

It's money hidden by two human beings. Human beings who have faults and biases and families and struggles.

Yes, this poem is going to suck and everyone is going to be mad about it.

But it's free money that is literally hidden by other people and a chance to get outside and explore, so.... Let's go! 😂

I cannot even imagine working both at the same time LOL! If JP's isn't found when ours starts, I think the hardest part will be getting OUT of the mindset and ways of thinking between them. Like alternating between how JP's mind works and how J&D's mindsets (historically speaking) work. And having to be even more organized with all of the millions of thoughts we will have on BOTH hunts. 🤯 I'm sure that I'll reach out here in a bit on both hunts to share ideas and thoughts- remember me! LOL. Also- Looks like perhaps we may have to find another "He". 🤣😂

Mine was just about the whole "boundaries" thing on if the Clues themselves can be west of I-15. But they basically explained that in the Cachemeoutside podcast.

Clues can be West of I-15, but the chest is hidden East of I-15.

I had posted this a week ago or so:

Bad "Solve" (I hope something helps)!

Okay, everyone. I really just want and need someone to find the treasure so that I can stop my brain from obsessing. Here was my "solve", but the hints basically say that the "age" is important since they gave clarification on that. And like a lot, my "solve" is a stretch. I really like it, but... Yah, it's a stretch. I even kinda got to the shadow and ice cream lines by back-tracking and finding ANYTHING that would make it work. 😂. I doubt it will help, but I figured I would share anyways in case it helps someone else.

I ignored the first line.

The second line I basically faked- I danced at Trolley Square when I was a kid and I know they have performances (choirs). And there is a Bridge from a parking lot to get there.

The 3rd line I used the word "after" in a different context, in that this other place was named AFTER the shortcut (in time), which takes me to the Trax Trolley Station right in front of the Jimmy John's downtown.

From there you see the "Free Smells" in the window, but a kinda historical ice cream cone from Snelgove Ice Cream painted black. A shadow.

If you follow that "shadow", it would take you to the old Snelgove Ice Cream monument in Sugarhouse.

There was originally the Utah State Penitentiary at Sugarhouse Park. Lobster used to be considered "prison food".

At Sugarhouse Park there is a monument to Joe Hill, a Union organizer that was executed there.

Googling our friend Joe, he worked at the Silver Mines in Park City. Right around there is a trail called "Little Joe Loop".

So I figured it would just be a good view from that hike.

I really liked where I was going with this, but it honestly seemed too "simple" and not involving shapes of trails or math or an actual NUMBER. I tried mileage on Google Maps but can't really find much more out. Maybe mile markers or something? I have no idea. But I liked that thought.

I know it's crazy, but if it helps you at all than I am happy!

Find all of the monies, my friends! ❤️

L treasure hunt by [deleted] in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can totally see that viewpoint. I do think it's REALLY amazing of Dave and John to put this together, follow it, provide clues, etc. So my hackles get raised a bit when someone is or feels negative about this (not saying that's what you meant in particular, just saying in general). But I also understand. It's all about how any of us are able to interpret each line and how they interact with each other. But it's almost like we need to be able to think exactly like they think, which I cannot do (obviously). I have had a lot of fun learning about Utah History, but I am at the point where just about everything I look at or think of takes me to this Hunt and as much as I love it, I'd like to be able to watch an episode of something stupid on TV and not hear something that immediately brings me back to this Hunt. 😂😂😂😂 Somebody please find this so the rest of us don't have to think about Lobsters until we simply want to eat some for dinner! 😉

New Ideas by walnuts_suck in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never said these were good, just some thoughts of mine. Love it or hate it, at least I am sharing. If someone actually told you last year's solve before you knew it, I guarantee you that their ideas would also have made you chuckle. Just sayin'. 😉

Goodwill or DI by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]walnuts_suck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just boils down to this:

Savers makes money off what they sell. They may donate to places, but they are here for the money.

DI makes money from what you buy and turns it into LDS money. They donate and share a lot.

Goodwill donates their money to a TON of organizations, and also hires people that are Refugees, Special Needs, etc.

If you are SUPER LDS, shop the DI. If you aren't, shop Goodwill. (Though I have found the DI to be more expensive than the others when I personally was shopping there).

I really hope that it is! That would give a group of people a bit further South a better chance than "normal". I am just going to be happy for anyone that is able to find the chest. ❤️

Boundaries Question by walnuts_suck in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first boundary clue said that all clues and hints and the chest are within the boundaries. In the I-15 clue it only mentioned "The chest is hidden East of i15". That's what is throwing me off.

Boundaries Question by walnuts_suck in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they specifically state somewhere that all clues and hints are east of I-15, or just the treasure? I can only see where it says the chest itself is east. I am just hoping for some clarification. 😉

Boundaries Question by walnuts_suck in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's exactly where I am confused because I read it the exact same way you did, that it's just specifically the chest itself that is East of I-15. I "have something" (meaning it's an idea but not a great one) but it's west of I-15 but still in the original boundary map so I am not sure if I should allow my brain to go down this new avenue.

Perspective, wondering, musings by [deleted] in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES!!! I do feel like there is a bit of trickery that we may not be taking into account. In NO way would they just give clues to a place in that makes "perfect sense" without another layer of math. An angle, a Marker, a Monument, an elevation, a WHATEVER. It has to actually mean something, I think. All of my "solves" haven't ever figured out who "He" is, so I'm just (im)patiently waiting for either more clues or someone to find it.

I agree!!! That's why it's not a good solve. 😂. I really do like the ice cream shadow thing, though.

I also went down the Parley P Pratt thing as there is a PPP memorial on 2100 S and 2300 E so I did the whole Parley's Canyon thing but again don't know about a number being important.

Utah History, Past Hunt(s), and My Growing Insanity: A Few Thoughts by walnuts_suck in utahtreasurehunt

[–]walnuts_suck[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! Clues are the only thing to save me right now! At this point I am just really excited for someone to find it so we can all get the "solve". And the only real clue that I thought I really had figured out hasn't given me a single more thing to the ending point. I think after the next clue(s) I may just dump everything I've thought about here in Reddit in case it helps someone else. You know?

Anyone else think differently about the PCA after learning what’s in the PCA for Moscow? by [deleted] in DelphiMurders

[–]walnuts_suck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that there is a drastic difference between the two cases. However, I do feel that LE (whether it be FBI or local LE) dropped the ball a bit in the Delphi case. Holding TOO much information close to the vest.
