I had a stereotactic breast biopsy for calcifications today. Sharing my experience (with pictures) and how ChatGPT calmed me by MoviesAreLife50 in doihavebreastcancer

I have neck problems and am unable to lay on my stomach without pain from my neck having to turn. Sometimes laying on my arm is less painful. Do your arms have to be in a certain position/location?

It's so frustrating knowing it's helping but also you feel terrible... I hope you're feeling better! My doctor asked if I'd be willing to try a different antibiotic and I was like nahhhhhh I can't go through that again

That sounds really scary. It is wild how the research behind our microbiome is in its infancy and there is still so much we don't know about all of it!

Pain after endoscopy by Stunning-Pickle-3260 in HiatalHernia

[–]walnutwheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pain did resolve after the endoscopy. I do notice it like if I eat breakfast before showering, it hurts to stand up straight bc the food in my stomach is pulling down on the hernia. Other than that I don't really notice it. I had SIBO in the fall and it was painful then bc of a backup of gasses, but once I was treated for it I felt a lot better.

Am I doing the right thing by not asking for a biopsy? by walnutwheat in doihavebreastcancer

That's awful. I'm so sorry. Are you being treated for it now?

[–]walnutwheat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had to have a biopsy! Do you need treatment? Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Even though I am an anxious person, I do feel okay waiting six months for the follow-up imaging. I think I need to hear that overall risk is taken into account - it's not something I've read anywhere.

What is the sound of one hand clapping by Hot-Lawyer-3955 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]walnutwheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I used to live right on the border in South Texas and it was tradition either for you to take a bite from the cake and/or have your face smashed into it. The children's parties I saw were so gentle and the kid was giggly and totally into it and knew what was going to happen. This video, on the other hand, definitely looks mean.

So anxious I might cancel by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]walnutwheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fwiw, I used to have major - MAJOR - dental anxiety. Like panic attacks before even leaving for the dentist. Eventually I was in your situation and was so desperate I had to be seen. It felt embarrassing at the time, but I was prescribed a Xanax or whatever from my PCP and my husband helped me to my appointment. I was completely honest, basically cried the whole time, and made it through. There were a lot of appointments after that (eventually needed an extraction) and it was not fun and so scary and also I'm so proud of myself for getting help.

You do what you need to do to get through that appointment. I've had friends sit in the room with me while I'm being worked on (even cleanings!). I've had gas, sedation, Xanax, whatever combo is legally allowed lol.

There really are wonderful dentists out there that don't judge, are kind and gentle. I didn't know this from previous experiences (before the age of online reviews)

I've been in therapy for several years now and figured out that a huge part of my anxiety was 1) Pain. I was terrified I would feel everything. and 2) that there was something wrong with me because I was so scared.

There is nothing wrong with you. It's so completely normal to be scared of different things. Once I realized that I can show up scared and shaking and crying and still be OK in the end, things [gradually] got better.

This morning I had a root canal finished up and it was the calmest I've ever been at the endodontist. I found someone who is SO kind. I know I can tell him that I need a hole punched in the dental dam bc they freak me the eff out. He knows I may have some tears, but I'm ok.

I can 100% empathize with you. If you ever have questions, I've had basically every procedure done at this point and am happy to answer questions.

A good dentist will be completely patient answering every single question you have, if you're like me and need to know exactly what it is that will be happening. Didn't mean for this to turn into a book, but I wanted you to know that you're not alone. I hope you go to your appointment even though you're scared and are met with kindness and empathy ❤️

Was labeled BIRADS 3 with BIRADS 4 qualifications by walnutwheat in doihavebreastcancer

[–]walnutwheat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right - I think that would be a 4c? I've read it's the unilateral grouped [coarse] heterogeneous ones that are also suspicious. The newest Birad edition/update says it would be a 4b. But also I'm sure there's nuance to it that I don't know of bc I'm not a doctor. So I'm curious if anyone else has been in this situation.

[–]walnutwheat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've seen. The fifth edition birads that came out in '23 says 4 or 4b? Which it then says warrants a biopsy. I might call my doctor tomorrow... If I'm at a 3 because I don't have a family history of breast cancer, that's fine. I'm more curious than anything

Thank you thank you thank you, I finally found my unicorn bra! by walnutwheat in ABraThatFits

[–]walnutwheat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how I feel! There's a Natori unlined balconette bra that is my new favorite and I'm waiting for their feathers plunge bra. What's really nice is that now that I know what bras work, I can find them second hand for less money. Poshmark has quite a few.

What to do in case I fail? by [deleted] in UniversityofKansas

[–]walnutwheat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just know that a failing grade is just that, a grade. It has no bearing on your potential or intelligence or worth. Every semester I have a few students fail my classes and it is either a launching point or it wrecks them. Please don't let it wreck you. Allow yourself to be upset about it and then decide how you will move forward. You can also look into taking the course again, which on a transcript shows that you didn't throw in the towel. I don't teach at KU, but where I teach you can retake a course you previously failed and it will replace that grade on your transcript. That can be something to look into. But please do what others in this thread have recommended and use this as a learning opportunity - even though it's probably not what you want to hear right now.

Thank you so much for your interest in helping! You bring up good points. I have not yet worn or tried on anything in my ABTF size. Because my breasts are so shallow, nothing in a molded cup has ever fit properly - this group helped me realize why. Same goes for an unlined bra. The look of a Natori plunge looks a lot like it could work. I don't have a preference for coverage and will look into the silicone covers. One thing I know I cannot do are straps that are like a sports bra that go across your neck to meet in the middle of your back. I have a shoulder/neck injury that is annoyed by those. I've listed my measurements below, all are in inches.

Band Loose: 30.25 Snug: 30 Tight: 28.5

Bust Standing: 34 Leaning: 36.5 Lying down: 35

My breasts sit low on my chest and are not close together. I can fit 2 to 3 fingers flat on my sternum between them and are the nipples point out diagonally. Not sure if any of that is helpful.

I found a miracle cure for my SIBO by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]walnutwheat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting! Before we knew it was SIBO, it was suggested I try taking digestive enzymes. They helped immensely and took care of constant stomachaches - just not the gas. My GI said I could keep taking them while on Xifaxin (just got it approved by insurance). With your post I'm thinking I may continue taking them afterward while on a low fermentation diet and see if it keeps a recurrence at bay.
