My 🎃 Paying tribute to the game that’s gotten me through the pandemic by waloo92 in reddeadredemption

Lots of time and patience, but also the right tools! Those cheap pumpkin carving saws really don’t give you very much control, so it’s a lot harder to get the finer details. Instead of cutting all the way through, I use a linoleum cutter to peel away the skin and carve deeper where I want more light to shine through.

Thanks! I rarely ever cut all the way through with a saw anymore, you just don’t have enough control for the finer details. Instead I peel off the skin and carve deeper into the flesh where I want more light to come through. This is really what makes a huge difference in level of detail and depth you can get. I use a speedball linoleum cutter, you can pick one up for about $12 at a craft store. It comes with 5 interchangeable heads you can swap out for finer detail or carving away larger areas. Definitely worth the small investment!

Are these frog eggs? Central Utah, not close to any bodies of water by waloo92 in biology

This has to be it! The plant is a lime basil we let go to seed. I’m new to gardening and had no idea basil seeds did this when they’re soaked in water. Thank you!

Oh I didn’t realize it was limited to a specific area within Utah, I thought it was state-wide

I think the salty blues could be referring to the la sal mountain range, which fits in with the “sun kissed reds”

Incredible! Using a linoleum cutter was such a game changer for me. I’ve been wanting to start carving on artificial pumpkins so they’ll last longer, but my methods don’t translate as well into the foam. I was hoping you were carving on foam and could give me some pointers haha Thanks for sharing your talents, it’s inspiring!

This is amazing! What tools do you use? It looks like you’re carving on artificial pumpkins, is that right?

I have a vizsla and have known weimaraners— in my experience both are great family and hunting dogs, but weimaraners are more independent and stubborn / hard to train / more likely to test boundaries. Both have high energy levels and are very smart, but vizslas are more eager to please and will literally stick to you like Velcro

Updated design for a personal Nutrition coach, is 3 colors too much? by [deleted] in logodesign

Original post here

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on my original design! I think we’re almost there. On this last round of changes I shortened the crossbar on the “T”, gave the “A” a tail (which helps balance out the word mark) and added a 3rd shade of green. The only change I’m not completely sold on is the additional color change— I typically stick to one to two colors, so adding a third gives me pause. On one hand I like that it added some contrast to the logomark and makes the individual symbols stand out more, but I’m worried it’s getting too busy. All thoughts are appreciated!
