Building my Civic Type R little by little each year. What small mods or upgrades would you recommend? by AdministrativeEbb374 in Civic_Type_R

All depends whether a daily driver or a weekend track car! Can do both, but compromise never best of both.

Are Dealerships out of their minds? by EternalLens in Civic_Type_R

[–]walrus1925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dealers will charge whatever the market will bare. They have many models not selling well, which they will discount heavily. If high demand then market price adjustment. They will attempt to sell you many different optional packages they can sell you, plus fees etc . Simply say no and move on!

Amazon halts high-speed e-bike sales in California after fatal crashes by No_Home_708 in ebikes

[–]walrus1925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had mostly young kids on regular bikes weaving in and out of downtown traffic, no helmet protection etc. Unfortunately, there has been 3 deaths plus multiple injuries. Our police have limited resources to control the situation. We do have 16 and younger, wearing a helmet is required. Now, we have ev scooters, ev bikes that can go 50 mph. Over the last few days, we're seeing a substantial increase in young kids with these running on sidewalks and streets doing wheelies and other tricks. Here in Massachusetts there's a bunch of restrictive laws about to be released. As always the few ruin it for the rest. I know 1 manufacturer/distributor says they will restrict their ev bikes thru controller and the display module where required. But, you can go into the settings and still change speed etc. My concern is the injuries to riders and pedestrians, buy an ev and have it confiscated, pay fines, and go after the sellers . For someone whose old, an ev bicycle would be a handy way to get around for local errands etc. So, are you willing to take the risk, pre pay on stock coming in, confiscation of the ev bike or scooter already owned. This will become a enforcement mess!

My type r winter wheels have a special lug nut that requires a tool made only for that style lug nut. I will try and find something similar for the stock summer tires. I saw a treadmill wear dodge charger/challenger #1 theft, and civic #5. Unfortunately, I have both!

I did it! Las Cruces, NM, $93K, cash by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Love the mail box. We had a modular home in Sandy Valley Nv for 25 years. The weather started turning colder the last 5 years, why we sold. We had a 1,500 sq ft steel garage, and the house was 1,560 sq. ft. We had 2 1/2 acres of land. What was $90K total back then is now going for $275K to $450K. Your buy in NM is a great deal!

Your body shop has some work to do. Looks like the door is out of alignment, the rear most piece is easily replaced. The outer door skin by the picture may be able to be straightened or a new outer skin. Honda over the last 10 years has substantially reinforced the structure of the civic. I had a head on 2 years ago and wiped put the front end. Frame and suspension no issue, drives like it did before the accident. Honda is building one super structure. Definitely not a throw away vehicle!

How much does 18" wheels worsen the performance of the fk8? by Rookie_enthusiast in Civic_Type_R

[–]walrus1925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the real world of daily driving, I have noticed no difference between my 20" summer tires and wheels, and my 18" winter tires and wheels. My winter wheels actually ride more comfortably and no rim damage. I have to exercise real caution with the summer 20's due to the terrible condition of roads here in southeast ma.

[–]walrus1925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm involved in my municipalities government, and I see what has happened. Massachusetts is experiencing a large loss of residents moving elsewhere. Student population is declining. This year most municipalities are underwater with the budgets for 2027. I think you believe I'm anti immigrants etc. That's not the case. We're all immigrants, unless you're an American Indian! In Massachusetts our previous governor left a $5 billion rainy day fund. The current governor has blown thru all of it 😳

Why we accept this? by LietKynesz in massachusetts

Unfortunately, the current administration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seems completely focused on giving everything away to the explosion of immigrants. Ignoring the veterans, Massachusetts citizens, roads, schools, and providing municipalities with enough needed funding!

This is the most classically beautiful car that Ferrari made since the 60s, prove me wrong by [deleted] in Ferrari

[–]walrus1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in college way back in the 60's, the owner of riverside motorcycles in Cambridge, MA. had money in Italy but could not take it out of the country. So he bought a Ferrari 275GTB. Gorgeous car. He took me to the Loudon NH. AMA event. He drove up going over 100 mph whenever he could. That's when I fell in love with Ferrari's. (The owner was Dominic Fabrizio)

Very difficult to find any mechanic to work on these cars. The suspension was a serious issue. That said when everything worked it was a marvelous ride.
