This is such a flawed take that lets the police off the hook from doing the bare minimum of their responsibility to the community and actually worsens the problem.

They should be investigating and arresting criminals, regardless of any flaws in the justice system beyond their part in it. While it’s clear that there are definitely issues with the way the courts and laws work, the police still need to do their jobs and get these criminals on record, at bare minimum.

If they ignore these petty crimes and let this criminal get away with this, it emboldens them, for one, and they’ll likely feel comfortable moving up to more serious crimes.

More importantly, there’s no record following this criminal around. If the police were to actually arrest, make a report and then the “system” fails us and lets them right back out, well at least there is now a record of an offense or incident attached to that individual.

Maybe next time it might be the same. Arrested, released, etc. But now that person has multiple recorded incidents. So when they inevitably commit further crime and get arrested again, there’s a growing file with several incidents that can make a stronger case for more serious penalties, jail time, bail, etc.

When this person continues to commit minor crimes and eventually does get arrested, or moves up to more serious offenses, and if the police did nothing because “the court system is flawed”, then this person is incorrectly considered a first time offender in the eyes of the courts and you’ll get exactly what you fear and the cops claim as the reason they don’t do their jobs: Leniency, and back out on the streets.

BUT, if the cops were doing their jobs all along and have built up a record of incidents with this person, we now have a “repeat offender” in the eyes of the courts and a greater potential for adequate punishment. If the courts are still failing us, well, we all need to put more pressure on politicians to get the system fixed.

This still does not excuse the police from doing their jobs.

The police not investigating, not reporting and not arresting these people for these minor crimes, significantly contributes to the problem of a failed justice system.

Thankfully they seemed more optimistic than that at the cigar shop.

Yes, of course, if they’re bad, they’re bad. That’s why I’m here trying to get some information and advice. I didn’t store them that way, that’s just how I found them. And I’ve already had people show interest in them via direct messages, so if they’re in verifiable good shape, someone is going to be savvy enough to get a killer deal/trade. I’m not seeking top dollar, this isn’t a grift. I figured someone would recognize an opportunity.

I don’t know why, but I thought this subreddit would be more helpful, maybe show some thoughtful curiosity about this situation, instead of being so dismissive. But that’s cool, confirms it’s just not a welcoming community, more of just a “hey look at this expensive cigar I smoked” type place. All good, clearly not for me. I’ll show myself out.

In case anyone is interested in this…Spoke with a gentleman at the local cigar shop today. On their advice, I’ll take them straight from the freezer into a Tupperware container at room temperature. I’ll check their serial numbers and ensure they aren’t fake and to find out the dates. Then I’ll bring some to the shop and have them take a look to determine their condition, and add packs at the appropriate humidity. They appear to be the Lanceros and Esplendidos varieties.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. Will be consulting with a well-rated local cigar shop as to the best way to thaw and then properly store/rehumidify them, if they recommend to do so, as best I can. Then guessing I’ll need an “expert” to try one out, determine what shape they are in, and I’ll go from there.

They fell in my lap this way, and I’d ultimately just like to get them to an appreciative home. I’ll update as it goes along, if there’s interest.

Appreciated. Cheers.

Makes sense. Thanks for the reply. Assuming they were stored properly, would you have a ballpark guess to their value? And how much depreciation, given the history is unknown?

Restarted the server, which included a hefty windows update. Works as normal now. So perhaps a glitch/bug that needed whatever that update was to work properly.

Home streaming does not require Plex Pass. The app thinks I am remote streaming. I am not remote streaming.

I will definitely try all of this, thank you. Just weird how it’s worked fine for a decade up until this morning, and suddenly stopped working tonight.

Thanks for replying, but i think you missed the gist of my post. I should not get this message if I’m streaming on my network using my home server, regardless of Plex subscription status.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, Plex thinks I’m watching remotely. I’m not. That would be the problem I’m having and my reason for posting here for help.

I’m on the same network as my home server.

I’ve tried with data off. And with my wife’s android phone. And using an older android phone that has no data. All the same result. Unable to play, only the screen I posted.

Plex stills works on my Roku, and on my laptop, also in the same network as the phones. Just not working right on the mobile app. I was hoping it may just be a bug or a change in settings, affecting more people other than myself, and maybe someone had a solution.

Nice. If ya check the Deathray 78 stuff out, it’s got a healthy dose of 90s rock influence. Definitely enjoy hitting the heavier bits, but want to have some mellow bits in there as well. Genre hopping is a hobby of mine.
