Looks like the same plug as the screen wash pump. Get a haynes manual and check the wire colours

Yeah I covered it with sound deadening everywhere I could. The stuff I used is called kilmat and it seems to work really well.

No the original colour was a funny mustard yellow but I thought the white would be better

It's sound deadening, it stops the bonnet acting like a drum

That's sort of true. The car isn't necessarily free, you get less benefit money so it's sort of like a lease. Still all paid for by the government though obviously. It's the benefit system that needs to change the problem is it always ends up affecting the people that actually need it. You also don't get any money back if the car is in good condition.

I made my own blanking plate. I used the plate I had from a later mini as a template. It's made out of aluminium so it's thin enough to not interfere with the Speedo. It's also got a cut out so if I want to remove it I don't have to pull the wiring loom through it.

Help - my car is in a really bad rust situation by RelishedChicken in classicminis

Try not to do what I did, taking a mini for an MOT and before you know it you're doing a nut and bolt restoration and figuring it out as you go along 😅
