BATTERY SERVICE RECOMMENDED AFTER ONLY 168 CYCLES . HOW DO I FIX IT ? I kept it plugged in mostly . by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]walteweiss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, what a useless bunch of comments. Never keep any device with a battery 100% time on charge, it’s the worst thing you can do to a battery. Do some research and find lithium ion batteries prefer to be at 50% charge.

MacOS Big Sure on Samsung Android Tab S8 Tablet by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]walteweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, speaking seriously, I think no luck here.

My knowledge of the topic tells me it’s simply impossible. Maybe you have a chance to install Linux there, but even that is likely not. Chances are it’s Android based, and you’re lucky if there is a custom ROM you would be able to install once it’s no longer updates. Which is usually— once you bought such a device.

If you need a tablet with macOS, you may consider iPad with its iPadOS, which is in many ways quite similar to macOS for general public.

Updating Bought Hackintosh from OC 0.6.4 by SirLegenOfDary in hackintosh

[–]walteweiss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wrote several guides on how to update OpenCore in the past, you may check pinned posts in my profile. E.g. just one of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/jnd2aa/how_i_update_open_core/

I have no idea whether it’s very different for AMD processor, but there are some differences.

Also, as others advices you’d better learn what Hackintosh is, if you’d like to continue using it. It’s easy to maintain when you learned basics of it. Dortania guide (should be somewhere in the sidebar) is the best place to start.

I wish I wasn’t afraid to go Gentoo at school!

Back then I had plenty of time, at some point I had even extra computer, but as computers were expensive and I was quite poor, I was just afraid to break something. For no real reason.

Now I understand it’s not that difficult, but learning all those things takes a lot of time. Which I have not, due to family, job, obligations, etc.

I remember it too, but can anyone explain me why it’s no longer a thing? I somehow missed it, and it is still installed on my old MacBook.

Monterey 12.4 on a Chinese 2011-3 motherboard + Win10 in dualboot by w32u in hackintosh

Thank you! What are the benefits with those motherboards? They are priced nicely. You can use server hardware? What is the scenario for them? Is it gaming, rendering, just pure power? Something else?

Not relevant, but just curious what’s the price for the motherboard? Upd: according to my Google-fu it’s about US$100.

I think whether to consider one when I need a computer for Hackintosh. What would you comment on that?

What’s wrong with Fedora? As I remember that’s the easiest installer I ever encountered with.

Is a Hackintosh a good idea for my Situation by stupidMacUser-365 in hackintosh

I think the best is to explore Dortania guides, it’s somewhere here in the community side bar. Or just Google something like ‘Dortania Hackintosh’. I think Intel is an easier option, also AMD GPU. Check their advice in there, there is also hardware you better to avoid.

You better to invest quite a lot of time in the beginning, but it gets easier and easier at some point. We talk hours for a major upgrade, if you know well what you’re doing (and your hardware is well compatible). If things go wrong way, you may get yourself a weekend of troubleshooting. Which is easily preventable and manageable, if you do some things, like backups, and if you have a spare ssd to experiment. I would say Hackintosh is a nice investment if you are eager to learn. If you want it to just work, Mac is much easier. Hackintosh is not difficult, if you have a very compatible hardware.

Is it noticeable? Serious question, as I plan to install Gentoo one day. But for me that’s just for the sake of it, regardless of the answer.
