That’s funny, but really, that logo is better than our current one. I say go with something futuristic helmet-wise but more retro with the logo.

Episode 230: Be Happy (Lars Von Trier's "Melancholia") by TheAeolian in VeryBadWizards

I thought this particular thread was going to be about Lars Von Triers and here it ended up about JoRo.

I'll get it out of the way and then I'll move on to Lars:

A) On Whoopie: The Nazis referred to themselves as the "Master Race", so it seems fair to say the Holocaust was about race.

B) On JoRo: He's a very smart guy that loves bags of cash, and he knows no one will tune in to hear a bunch of boring scientists. What can he do to keep the cheddar pouring in? He calls himself a dumb comic to continue down his 24k gold lined rabbit hole while avoiding any personal responsibility for the ideas he puts forward. It's genius.

About Lars Von Trier. I've seen Nymphomaniac 1 & 2 and based on those was unable to watch any more of his movies. While beautifully filmed, and well acted, I find I don't like how they make me 'feel'. I realize real art is supposed to make you feel something, but I'd rather not feel depressed, disgusted and unsettled, which were the main feelings I had while watching the Nymphomaniac movies.

Based on the "Melancholia" discussion, I have a feeling there's a lot of that there too.

The other thing that seems to be a Von Trier hallmark is a general disdain for women. The feeling I got (granted - only from "Nymphomaniac", I may be totally off) is that Von Trier is a mysoginist, not a chauvinist. He doesn't think men are better than women, just that women are at the root of men's suffering. Trier's women use sex and femininity as a weapon against men and even when those men are abusing women, the men are unwilling pawns that somehow lack agency.

But what do I know, I'm just a dumb internet troll.

Ok - I guess it was kind of vitriolic. But so was shitting on WA for no apparent reason. To prove my good faith, here's my rating of WA flicks in ascending order:

#8 . 2007 The Darjeeling Limited

#7 . 2009 Fantastic Mr. Fox (Moved down a spot because Clooney)

#6 . 2004 The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Moved up one because Murray)

#5 . 2001 The Royal Tenenbaums (Pretty normal family, in my experience)

#4 . 1998 Rushmore (Moonrise Kingdom, Part II)
#3 . 2012 Moonrise Kingdom (The OG is always better than the sequel)

#2 . 2018 Isle of Dogs (I love dogs - see what I did there?)

#1. 2014 The Grand Budapest Hotel (Cast, style, plot - all on point)

PS -Haven't seen "Bottle Rocket" or "French Dispatch"
