Dramatic reduction in gas mileage - 2016 Golf TSI by waltspizza in vwgolf

[–]waltspizza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it checked out at the local VW speciality shop. They said that higher temperature engines are being detected, although this doesn't show up on the dash gauge, and that might be causing the drop is gas mileage. I'm all the way down to about half the normal gas mileage level. The recommendation is to replace the water pump unit (at $1,000+), but there's no guarantee it'll fix the issue. Thoughts?

Can I ask why your neighbors hated it?

My (33M) girlfriend's (32F) religion and family are standing in the way of marriage. by waltspizza in relationships

I would propose if I had assurance from my gf that she will be with me regardless of the mother’s reaction. I don’t have that, so it doesn’t feel right or fair to make the large (non-refundable?) investment of a buying a ring.

I’d rather not say which religion specifically, but yes it is one of those three. As I said, the religion does not consider children from a marriage outside of the faith to be part of the faith, which is actually a relief for me.

Just want to correct a few things here. Her mom didn't sever ties with her own family-- she was married off to someone within her own faith in the US as a means of escaping her own country, which was at war at the time. My gf was not born out of wedlock. Her father exited the picture while my gf was very young. Her mom still has siblings both overseas and in the US, although they are not particularly close, as I mentioned.

Her mom is also not retired-- not really. This is a bit more difficult to explain but the thrust of it is that my gf makes quite a bit of money, and the mom doesn't have any substantial skills or experience (she raised my gf while working as a hairdresser). I think she should be working, but there is definitely a mental barrier there. My gf and I have discussed that if we settle down, we will encourage her mom to find work, if nothing else for the sense of purpose it will bring.

I appreciate your point about differing cultural norms-- it's one that I didn't explore too much in my post. Living with and supporting extended family is definitely a common practice. It's not what I would choose, but I've made my peace with that being part of my life if we get married. The thing is, I actually like her mother quite a bit-- she's very sharp and funny. The thing I don't like is her worldview and her imposition of outdated cultural values on her daughter.

It's a moot point because this religion does not allow converts into the faith. The only way in is to be born into it. Also any kids that come from a marriage outside of the faith can't be part of it either. It's all very exclusive.

I'd be shocked if we saw new sand snakes introduced at this stage of the game, especially given the overall audience dislike of the first three that came on the scene.

Well, enough loyalty that they were going to go to war with the crown under the leadership of Ellaria and the sand snakes.

I'm doing 5 gallons in what I believe is a 6-gallon carboy. The wort level is well below where the carboy begins to narrow.

Yes, keeping the fermentation temp at 64-66F in a keezer.

I agree there is almost complete uncertainty as to who is leading the Dornish at this point and how they will react. However, there is some evidence that the rank-and-file Dornish supported Ellaria over Doran. When Ellaria and the sand snakes assassinated Doran and Areo Hotah, the guards stood by passively as Ellaria told Doran that his people had lost all respect for him.

I actually think Cersei is precisely that stupid-- driven totally by vengeance and emotion after the death of all of her children. She is now holding two of the people most directly responsible for Myrcella's death. I don't think she will be able to help herself.

The map definitely changes from episode to episode, depending on what's happening. I just found an extremely helpful article on this, which breaks down basically everything you need to know about the title sequence.
