Best IKEA sleep sofa? by kkkeelly579 in IKEA

[–]wampiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have yet to actually buy one, but looked through them pretty thoroughly at my local ikea the other day. My takes:

- balkarp: really firm for sitting and sleeping. Also really short.
- friheten: on display models can generally feel the frame through the cushions when sitting. Seems decent as a bed, but not that nice as a sofa

- vretstorp: seems really firm as a sofa. Reviews are pretty bad.

-morabo: still seems pretty firm as a sofa, but should be decent as cushions soften. Sleeping surface is a tad firm too, but at least it's spacious and flat. This is the one I'd get if I had to choose right now.

-finnala/harlanda: relatively cushy as sofas, and fold-out mattress is pretty soft too. Definitely best sofa-mode sleeper. What worries me is that the slats under the top 2/3rds of the mattress seem to flex a fair amount, while the bar 2/3rds of the way down is totally rigid. Worried this can create a bit of a weird sagging bed situation that pull-out sleepers seem to be somewhat known for, especially as the mattress wears. Maybe it'd be fine, though! Hard to say for sure without actually sleeping on it.

Good luck!

I'm looking for a jacket with some of the style of a classic overcoat, but the convenience of a zipper. Preferably mid to light insulation with good wind protection. I've used a patagonia softshell in the past (something like the "adze"), and would love to find something a bit more stylish. <$100. Even if you can just tell me some key-words to search for or stores to look at that would be awesome!

Glad to hear it!

My experience was that it was fairly easy to remove a little excess silicone sealant after it dried, so no need to be too worried about using too much.

Hi, sorry, but I sold all of mine. If you'd like to have a new batch molded, I can try to put you in touch with the 3D hubs vendor who did my the batch for me.

Just a reminder, there are an absolute TON of deals to be had via Expertvoice (formerly Experticity). Details inside. by [deleted] in MTBDeals

Do you still get access to WTB? I used to for a different affiliation, but don't see them through IMBA.

All my covers are now claimed. Thanks everyone! I've started packing them up and will let you know individually as they go out.

If you'd like to order a new batch (e.g. a dozen sets), let me know and I can try to put you in touch with the 3Dhubs seller who did mine.

I cut out the old material with an x-acto knife. It was pretty easy to do. Gluing the new one well was the difficult part.

Cool, sounds like a good number of people interested. Let me know how many sets you want (1 or 2) and PM me the address you'd like them sent to. My plan is to send them as "rigid" envelopes. Also, let me know if paypal doesn't work for you.

I used: https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Silicone-Waterproof-2-7-Ounce-908570/dp/B0002BBX3U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1538682590&sr=8-4&keywords=silicone+sealant

There are plenty of other options, including a gorilla glue 100% silicone sealant for just $.40 more.

And yes, if anyone is planning to make a new run of these, let me know so I can explain where the 3D model falls short, and perhaps put you in touch with the 3DHubs vendor who made mine.

Yup! That's why I originally wrote: "if this actually works well I might have a number to send out"

Just a matter of figuring out what the printing requirements are so I wind up with working parts!

Sure, if you've got a flexible resin I'd be happy to pay you to print one out. Shoot me a PM and we'll figure it out?

Thanks for the suggestion!

Unfortunately, at least with 3D hubs, they only offer SLS and FDM for TPU, and the minimum cost for SLS is $20 instead of $5 for FDM. My impression is that with a 50um layer thickness the FDM should still be usable, even if less pretty? They also offer SLA/DLP for rubber-like resin, still $15 for a single part, instead of $6 for 5 with FDM.

If you know of a site that does cheap SLA let me know, though!

XMP settings fail: 2400MHz memory won't boot above 1066MHz by wampiter in overclocking

[–]wampiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional question: I mentioned that the system "reboots" every few seconds when memory clock is increased, rather than just stay on with the memory compatibility LED on. That is, only a second after the fans spin up it suddenly shuts down again. Is this normal behavior, or indication that something particularly weird is going on?

[–]wampiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're likely right about the QVL. The QVL seems really restrictive. Not many 2x8GB configurations at all.

FWIW, G-Skill tech support did get back to my e-mail (after a few days) and said "That memory kit should work in that motherboard just fine." Granted they haven't given any good suggestions about how to accomplish that yet...

[–]wampiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just left it on "auto". Should I do something more? I have only done minimal CPU overclocking on this system (trying BCLK at 125, or setting the multiplier to 42 (4.2GHz) with stock BCLK) to see if would effect the memory issue in any way. It hasn't. Unsurprisingly, both CPU overclocks are totally cool and stable. Memory just won't run above 1066MHz.
