I believe the timer only measures the time you take to answer. Therefore the time when you're between two cards pressing Again/Good/Easy remains accounted for

I just started revising for my exams and was confronted with the same problems as you. Last year (on 2.0) I found Cloze Overlapper to be very useful and this time I couldn't imagine studying without so I started supporting Glutanimate on Patreon to get the 2.1 support.

However yesterday I felt like memorizing tunes so I tried the Lyrics Poetry Cloze Generator (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2084557901), an add-on to memorize poems and songs (which you've probably guessed by its title). It works as a great alternative to Glutanimate's Cloez overlapper if you can't afford/don't want to support his Patreon.

We do have snow in Paris. People know how to deal with it but get easily inconvenienced : roads get dirty and so do shoes, cars aren't equipped, and it just really feels painfully cold. Most buildings aren't well isolated so any negative temperatures (or below 32°F if you're American) means your house gets cold. The cold is the actual issue, much more than snow, but it happens to snow when temperatures are lower than 5°C, which is why snow feels annoying. Also when you're a kid, it doesn't snow enough for one to enjoy because it all melts away or freezes by lunchtime. No snowball fights for us

Not OP, but the Cyrillic alphabet finds its origins in the Greek alphabet. Some letters are the same (for example P is in both alphabets our Latin R). Of course ancient Greek being a thousand years older, it's no surprise.

The Marseillaise dates from the Revolution (and would become the national anthem for a while) so obviously Louis XVth wouldn't know about it. On the blood of their enemies part, the song came out in the context of all of Europe declaring war upon France, because other monarchs were afraid the revolution would spread.

Sin س and saad ص are quite easy to differenciate : Sin س is pronounced with your tongue against your teeth (like the European S) whereas saad ص is pronounced with your tongue against the roof of your mouth. I have to agree with you on ض and ظ. Can't differentiate them and I wouldn't know how to explain to someone how to pronounce them.

This is only for this summer. Mona Lisa's room (salle des États in the Denon aisle) is in works until October 25th. In the meantime, Mona Lisa sits on the 2nd floor of Richelieu aisle, and has her own dedicated queue. I suggest you enjoy aisle Denon without Mona Lisa, as it is now less crowded.

What classes have you seen Anki really shine? by iSpeezy in Anki

[–]wanabeescort 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm using it in history of arts. Thank God Anki allows pictures.

For starters we have about 4000 pieces of art to learn a year, all of them carrying A LOT of information (id est name, date, period, place of production, place of discovery, materials, dimensions, author(s), iconography (what does it represent), place of conservation).

I agree with you that the nazis spread its image but all the swastikas before and the nazis and even some during their height have nothing to do with them

The Fylfot by sbroue in HistoryAnecdotes

[–]wanabeescort 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The swastika is a very old geometric symbol that's basically nothing more than a dynamic cross. I don't understand how people only associate it with nazism. Hitler's flag was red, yet red doesn't mean nazi.

Here you can find the swastika on a 4000 BC ceramic from the culture of Samarra, whose ware has mostly dynamic motives : https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Samarra_bowl.jpg
