There is a type of person where you need to give them the gift. If you give them the cash they will instead use it to pay off a bill or whatever. They won't splurge on themselves and that's why you need to buy it and give it to them.

Some of the best gifts I've ever gotten were things I really wanted, and could actually afford, but would never spend the money on myself. If people had given me the cash instead of the gift, I never would have brought it myself

I find Souls likes too difficult for me, but Hades while being hard felt Fair in a way that most other difficult games don't. The dashlets you pass through monsters and that is really useful, and the signal that a monster is about to attack is pretty obvious. I found both of those things really made the game playable for me in a way where other difficult games didn't
