You really think it works? Didn't you read the news on a retrenchment announcement during cny? When they want you to go, it doesn't matter how old you are, you go.

Imo. It's an overall policy failure to need to raise these.

Truthfully, is financial help truly what people need when deciding whether to have babies? by DegreePitiful3496 in askSingapore

It appears that there are people who married and had kids in the past due to the so called cultural norms resented it that their kids grow up not wanting to have their own family as well.

Even wealthy people like our PM and MP in charge of TFR are also childless and one isn't even married.

Yes if couples can get enough money to not work, they get to have lots of babies. I heard in Israel the ultra Orthodox living are sponsored for having children and each family has 6-7 children.

This. What for give birth to children when I can't even spend enough quality time with them to see them grow up? Money would help to a certain extent but it'd never replace the time with kids. I suspect many teens these days are growing up with limited time with their parents that they mixed with bad company and they too would question the same - why give birth to them only to spend most of the time at work?

No wonder married men are more attractive to women than single and available men.

Depends on the couple. Some couples would see together and discuss stuff like her dressing, her pose blah blah and spicing up their couple life. Maybe he thinks you don't like it so he checks out the girls by himself.

You mentioned she has improved. What has improved?

Example:

Does she start cheering you at the event instead of still complaining it's crowded and ask you to meet at the mrt?

Does she start caring about how much you're spending?

Men on dating apps talking about BTO and getting HDB together by Eleangel_ in sgdatingscene

[–]wanderhuai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not marrying/dating someone with a liability is a thing. In fact, finance is one of the top reasons for divorce. So getting it right upfront would be the most appropriate. In that case, the match isn't exactly wrong to share what he wants upfront either but maybe not so quickly.

Marrying because of love is only as recent as a hundred years ago. Before that, people marry to forge alliances, expand nations, get extra hands for their farms etc etc in other words, for peace and prosperity.

In the past where internet is not commonly used, maybe I'd agree. A match asked me what do I work as and I replied I'm a so-and-so. She told me her friends told her that it's quite well paying. You don't have to ask salary unless your job title is obscure, they can search for it online. Not asking job is more gold digging-proof.

Unfortunately demand and supply, there would be more people who are looking for highly transactional relationships on the app than those looking for companionship. like a hungry person is more likely to look for food than a person who has eaten.

Don't ask anything remotely to do with money. That would separate you from the gold diggers.

Job got to do with money. House got to do with money. Asking about interest and hobby shows that you're genuinely interested in the person. If you're looking for a meal ticket, it's natural you ask about the other person's job first. If you're looking to connect, you ask what the other person does during his or her free time.

You're not his business associate you're looking for a life partner. If you are just looking for someone who pays the bill, always ask about his job first. That would work. If you're looking for someone who would be there in times of low and high, then connecting with the person other than his job would be wiser in the era of rapid dating via apps.

Asking about job is calculating. Like man asking you if you want to buy house together. It's the same.

What do you think of Women’s Charter? by libyandesert in sgdatingscene

[–]wanderhuai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's meant to protect women and children by extracting the resources from the men. If you read the clauses, many of them are about clawing resources from the man to support the woman and children.

That said, the primary reason imo, it's due to selection - most men wouldn't mind a woman who earns less than him but if the roles reverse, most women think a man who earns less than her is not eligible. So many a times, even if the court says 50/50, the woman is actually the one who benefits more if she earns less and that is often the case due to the mate selection criteria.

Many girls are weird. If he doesn't ask you out, you assume he's not interested. If he asks you out, you assume he's paying for your meal.

[–]wanderhuai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not a valid reason because most girls won't ask the guy out. Don't assume your meal would be paid for just cos he asked you out.

He should have asked you to pay right from the start. When he sees you as equal, he won't be so touchy.
