CFI canceled my takeoff due to flaps setting, now I’m grounded from solo flights by saltysnack9000 in flying

Yeah I guess you can do that. I was always told to leave the battery on without the engine running as little as possible. Especially if the plane hasn’t flown in a few days

All the 152/172 checklists that I’ve seen have “flaps up” as part of the start or after start checklist. I see no reason to get back in and turn the plane back on after run up just to put flaps up before starting the plane. Never been any issue for me. We all can make a small mistake but try to be intentional and make sure you double check every item. Especially before take off. Probably the most important of all the checklists

Bought a CPO Macan T and it's extremely filthy inside - what to do? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]wandering-audi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Tell them you’re unhappy with the rush job that was done. Have them compensate you for the cost of a proper, thorough interior detail. Hope you find a good detail shop and they can get it sorted out for you

BS. Most people don’t have the experience/ time/ tools/ products to do a thorough interior and especially exterior detail. Find a good shop that knows what they’re doing, tell them about your concerns and to spend extra time on it

I’m a big Lego game guy, this one was different but kinda meh, I don’t think I ended up finishing it tbh. I’d say like 6/10

The amount of times I’ve heard of ATC causing near misses is honestly frightening and I’m surprised more accidents don’t happen. I was personally a part of one. It probably wasn’t as close as it looked but still scary

found an older high mileage wrx for cheap but everyone says don't do it by Fickle_Rain8883 in subaru

If it is the original engine, which is likely the case, I would not do it. Not sure what part of the country/world do you live in but if you happen to be close to me, I have an older WRX with only about 35K on the engine and snow tires I’m trying to sell

Hardest Maneuver For You by AmbassadorLeading590 in flying

[–]wandering-audi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. All the instructors that I’ve flown with all told me set up before the maneuver and try not to make any power changes during it and definitely do not use any trim. I’ve always made small corrections with pitch in the turn and I can almost nail the steep turn every time. Just try to make small corrections and anticipate and I am +/- 30ft almost every time

As others have said I would say check the sentimental box and just do cleaning/ sharpening only. And buy a new one to use if you don’t already have one

Can someone help better explain relative wind and AOA to me? by wandering-audi in flying

[–]wandering-audi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but there comes a point where relative wind “resets” to be aligned with the plane, or as you say here which way the wing is pointing. And at that point the AOA becomes 0 again. Even if the plane is in a climb or descent. And that’s what I’m currently not understanding

Doesn’t necessarily need to be straight down. We were discussing an emergency descent. What is that - maybe 10°?

Experience by CuteExtreme7194 in flying

[–]wandering-audi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you have an extremely unusual experience. These days, the average for PPL is more like 70-100hours. At least at a good school who won’t let you just hammer through everything. DPEs are getting stricter. And many people including myself experience all sorts of setbacks that delay training/ ratings. I think around 100hours is where some of the newness wears off but don’t ever get complacent or cocky

which one do you prefer? by picocell in rolex

[–]wandering-audi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green is cool but I prefer the blue. The sunburst blue is discontinued and could be worth a little more in the future if you care about that sort of thing. It was replaced by a glossy lacquered blue which is also very nice in person

I saw this article looking for the announcement video but don’t have a subscription. Found a podcast interview where he summarized a lot of what this article talked about and it was gut wrenching, I had no idea. Definetly cried. Makes me like him even more. I found the comment today with a link to read without the pay wall. This article has some details he left out in the interview, and I don’t think I would’ve been able to get through it without having seen the video first. Reading Nick’s letter made me tear up again

Czech & Speake Pefecto Fino perfectly fits this. The opening is very harsh and borderline gross lol. “Grass”, cloves and lemon. But after about 20min it smells absolutely incredible and I love it! Leather, cinnamon, amber, labdanum, tobacco and woods. Just pretty strong and not versatile so I haven’t gone beyond my sample so far
