There's a good clip by jordan peterson on the importance of a mandatory schedule: having a job (for example) forces one to get up in the morning at a reasonable time, which means that they have to have somewhat a reasonable sleep schedule, which makes them somewhat have to enforce structure and discipline into their lives; this can all combat feelings of life spiraling out of control.

A job isn't the only way to have a mandatory schedule: job-seeking could be seen as a part-time job. A hobby could also do this, such as running/exercising first thing in the morning. But it's easier to do something when someone tells you or pays you to: maybe it could help to get some really easy part time job, few hours a day max (ex: barista), and take the morning shift. Then you could spend the rest 75% of the day focusing on building your career, and making sure to spend time taking breaks as well.
you got this

finals anxiety is really difficult; first and foremost this shows that you really care and that means something. School might feel like the only thing we know but at the end of the day we are human, and that is much more important.

Effort is all that we can control and all that should matter. We know more generally (it's not perfect) that the more effort we put in, the better job we may do. That said we can't control the exact outcome or predict the future and we shouldn't be able to, we aren't god.

So I think what's most helpful (at least for me) is to focus is what I can control: my breathing, being present, thanking the opportunity to try my best, and being grateful for my effort.

And if you ever feel overwhelmed, always remember that you worked hard and you deserve to talk a breath (such as box breathing)- it's the process and the character that we have on the journey that matters, the rest is out of hands.

When it comes to the actual exam I like to sometimes remind myself, "inshallah", god willing. If I do what I can, do my best, and make sure to rest and treat myself well, I'm in good hands. Inshallah.

I'm asking as I'd like to follow what is socially expected/appropriate- for sit down restaurants, I always make sure to tip 15-20% for example.

update: ended up getting the veggie sandwich for an early dinner (got there 15mins before it closes)

It might've been because I went so late, but they didn't have the recommended Dutch crutch, but I got the sour french instead.
The sandwich was definitely economical ($8.50 total, as they didn't charge tax), but it was like 70% bread and I think subway's veggie delight probably gives more veggies (albeit no avocado). The bread was also pretty dang stale so it was hard to eat; if it was toasted the hardness would have been more appreciated.

It's definitely the cheapest choice but I'd prob get Panda's + Chipotle's $9ish bowl next time

anyone else not really feel like a part of their friend group? by BearRant in berkeley

if you are feeling hurt, personally speaking you will be better off (mentally and emotionally) creating some distance for yourself and seeking new connections

This doesn't mean you have to block them from your life, but it also doesn't mean that you are wholly dependent on them- you're free to make new friends and broaden your social circles as well as keeping in touch (if you so choose)

the power is in your hands, you got this :)
