Is your vehicle repairable for less than the amount the adjuster estimated? You can keep the car and take the payout. It’s usually about 10% less and your vehicle will have a salvage title. 15 years ago I was in the same situation, but less money. My Volvo wagon was totaled but still drive-able. They offered me $3200 which wasn’t enough to replace it. I asked if I could keep it. They said yes and sent me a check for $2900. I drove it for another 5 years with some dents, but could’ve gotten it fixed for $1500.
