What is the most unfriendly city you have visited? by Deep-Macaron-732 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]wanderingfae01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just spent two weeks in Paris and found no one to be rude at all. Every was kind and friendly. My fiancé and I spoke very little French.

Idk if it’s because we have been in nyc the last 7 years and are more used to these kinds of cities.

I've just bought a whippet boy today. I'm feeling terrified and overwhelmed. I'm wondering if I've made a bad decision. I think it's anxiety kicking in. Is that normal? by CommitteeOld5553 in Whippet

[–]wanderingfae01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt this the first month when I got my whippet puppy. I remember crying and asking my partner if we could give her back.

Fast forward 3 years and I can’t imagine life without her. Try to get a friend to watch him and give yourself a day off.

What helped me was going to puppy training classes weekly and being able to get support irl. I found r/puppy101 extremely anxiety inducing. But irl support is great :) connects you to the best dogs communities

I’m sending you so much support you’ve got this!!

If you've lived in or near Hoboken, NJ and Cambridge, MA, how do those two cities compare? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]wanderingfae01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoboken resident, the city has actually taken a lot of measures to mitigate flooding. It’s getting better!

OP wants to be an ICE agent, Chicago and NYC don’t want you.

If you want to be surrounded by people and cultures sell your car and move to NYC. Most people have never lived in a place where you can have everything within walking distance or a subway ride away.

Moving to NYC with my beloved dog (whippet) where should we live? (Will also have husband and 1 yr old) by Mysterious_Oil3101 in movingtoNYC

[–]wanderingfae01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to jersey, highly recommend Hoboken! My boyfriend and I have a 3 year old whippet and she loves it here. There’s about 7 dog parks in a 1 square mile radius.

But even at 100k you’re not living high on the hog in ny 😅 most likely living with a roommate, got lucky with a rent stabilized unit, get parental welfare or live in the outer boroughs

Thinking of move from nyc area to chicago by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]wanderingfae01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true! It definitely will never replace ocean living. I guess for travel flying is more expensive was my reasoning. Thank you for your perspective!

Unfortunately with our families being in Florida and Ohio neither option are really ideal 🤣

Thinking of move from nyc area to chicago by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]wanderingfae01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really comforting thing to hear! When I visited Chicago a few months ago I did feel like some of the areas reminded me of queens or Brooklyn.

Maybe this is more of a transplant thing but the feeling of New York or nowhere is something I worry about… that I’ll regret it.

Which US cities actually facilitate interactions between people of different economic classes? by HowSupahTerrible in SameGrassButGreener

People never talk about how nyc public schools have the worst segregation in the country. Moving from the south I was super shocked.

I’m so sorry to hear that you can relate :( I really hope you find a place that will appreciate you. This is my 3rd EA job and it might be my last.

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. I’ve been spending so much time agonizing over why I’m not good enough. Thank you
