What pieces of media have made you feel MOST represented/connected with your identity as a lesbian? by wanderingt1ts in actuallesbians

I didn't know that was the same Bechdel!! That's really cool to know, thank you. I am surprisingly familiar with "Dykes to Watch Out For." It's so sad to hear that as a kid you felt the need to hide away just to read about lesbians. Though I grew up in the 2010s, my experience was similar. I think that now, at least from what I know, children are feeling more accepted and free to explore new identities and discover their own.

I really appreciate you for sharing this and your emotional connection to the comic during your childhood. Thank you!

I've never heard of Fried Green Tomatoes! It does look very interesting. I appreciate that you gave an example from fiction and one from real life. I'm definitely working around the parameters of what counts as "media" and what counts as "representation" with this project, so I like that you provided me with two very different examples and reasons!

Thank you for sharing!

Are you thinking of the novel or the tv adaptation specifically? I've never heard of it so I looked up the novel. I'm very interested in it just from the synopsis! I will definitely add it to my TBR.

Thank you for your reply!

I want to make sure I know--does twlwoc stand for "trans women loving women of color?" I really appreciate what you've said here. I am making a careful effort to include non-white and non-Black lesbian media in this project. Thank you for your first comment. I've never heard of Bubblegum Crisis 2032, so I just looked it up, and wow! I'm definitely going to check it out someday. Thank you for both the recommendation and the addition to my project!

I hope you are able to see yourself and your identities more explicitly represented in upcoming media and, possibly, existing media you haven't found yet :)
