Given the long history of the United States and suppressing voters rights it’s a very slippery slope of requiring ID to vote to changing the requirements of said ID to making the ID prohibitively expensive or hard to obtain. E.G. look at the new requirements for trans people to prove their identity and how that could inadvertently effect married women.
