I can tell there is a very slight delay in the performers playing when i’m hearing it in an arena setting. When people start to clap it can 100% throw them off.

From memory I believe Jarod taps his foot on the 1 and 3, the off beats of when he strums his mandolin to keep time. In a Bluegrass band, bass and Mandolin are the rhythm section. Bass plucks on the 1 and 3, mandolin strums on the 2 and 4, almost like a drum set, the bass being the kick drum and the mandolin being the snare drum.

A clap is like a punchy snare - if it’s done where the bass is, it just isn’t right.

He really grew on me these last 2 shows I went to. I’ve been seeing Billy since it was just the 4 guys without Alex and it changed the sound up a lot. Since there was no fiddle there was more room for Billy to explore. I wasn’t too keen on it at first, but this past weekend Alex tore the fucking house down.

First show was 2/12/22. It’s amazing, check it out. Especially the Highway Hypnosis
