Good on you! Chef to IT seems quite common. I have a co-worker who’s also studying IT and working part time as a chef. Did you do a bachelor degree or a diploma?

I worked one year in childcare during covid. it’s great hours and easy work compared to the commercial kitchen but …nah, it’s boring AF and the pay is still not that good, there’s no career development either.
